Absolutely shameful. I encourage everyone with an account on Goodreads to use your review voice to express disgust over the actions of these bigots and the cowardice of Albany.

We'll see how Goodreads reacts. Will they draw the line at such extraordinary bigotry, or will they punish those who object, instead?

We're watching a modern-style pogrom against Jewish people in the arts, and too many institutions are complicit.

I'm an Albany-area author and was at the Albany Book Festival on Saturday. I was selling my books at a table in the local authors area. But I had no idea this happened as the local authors are in a different area than the featured authors and panels. So thank you Joe for putting the spotlight on this failure by the New York State Writers Institute.

I agree Elisa Albert should have been allowed to do the panel herself. Or, as an alternative, they could have easily found panelists to replace the idiotic, antisemitic ones. There were a bunch of featured authors there, not to mention over a hundred local authors, many of whom I'm sure would have been happy to be on a panel with Albert.

I'm very glad to see the SUNY chancellor be so clear in his condemnation of how the events played out. However, Paul Grondahl needs to do much better. I had one brief interaction with him last year, and I wasn't impressed. He seemed to care only about the big-name authors and not at all about all the local authors who put in lots of hours at the event.

I also wish the New York State Writers Institute was more even-handed in their events throughout the year. If "diverse range of programs and voices" means "extremely liberal programs," then they have succeded. I'm an independent and equally criticize both sides, but I also think both sides should be equally represented. And I have not found that's the case in surveying their offerings. Hopefully, that can change. I will say Grondahl's staff is very helpful and supportive of local authors, and I applaud the work they did to include us.

And I apologize for this plug, but I it's the first time I've ever done it. If you happen to like comedic sci-fi/fantasy erotica, you can check out my work at www.RileyRoseErotica.com. If not, no worries! I hope you find some other cool indie authors to read :)

Abysmal.

There has been a mainstream conflation of 'judaism' and 'zionism' since before I was born. It is not surprising, now, that critics of the Israeli government cannot distinguish between the two. Much to the woe of most everyone
