This article is inappropriate. Celebrate yourselves internally all you want to and tell your organization how proud you are of them. Great. But for your subscribers please remain focused on speaking truth to power. This focus will lead to all of your successes. If your focus becomes the numbers of subscribers, et al., it will be the beginning of the end.
Congratulations. What a relief to find this news alternative. I’m am a 70 year old retired federal prosecutor and former non profit exec in Pa So appreciate all that you do.
You need a fantasy/sci Fi critic, someone like Quinn. So much cool stuff is being done in US, Japan and so many people love it. You also need monthly columns on science research and engineering especially: Ai, robotics, space, rockets, architecture plus biotechnology and genetic enhancements of bacteria, plants, animals and even humans.
Back when you were Common Sense, I was commenting on The Dispatch asking Steve and Jonah to scoop you up! It is so hard to find objective journalism. The Free Press is a terrific value and TGIF is the best thing that happens on Fridays.
TFP is a refreshing challenge to a lot of my received biases and I appreciate that. The only irony is the consistent, blatantly transparent pro-Israel bias. But it's so obvious I can just ignore it. I say that because my personal moment of disillusionment with the MSM started on October 7. Bari mentioned a number of those "moments" in the podcast with Uri Berliner, BLM demonstrations, Covid, etc, but somehow the absurd notion that the Hamas attack came out of nowhere, somehow, didn't come up. Pro-Israel slant in the NYT and others is so frickin' obvious, but you don't seem to be about to challenge that.
Congratulations! Happy to see there is a thriving market for journalistic integrity, and THANK YOU for serving it.
Sometimes I agree, sometimes I disagree; however, it's always civil and never ad hominem towards the reader. Thank you for hosting debates that honor those values.
Speaking of live debates--can those be live-streamed or recorded for subscribers? PPV maybe?
Congratulations. Coming from a white, male, conservative, small business owner that felt isolated and hated by my own Country. You and your team have lite a fire under me, from the recent early days of a Common Sense, that there is truth, justice and good out there. Keep it up!!
Congratulations! I love Free Press. Reading the newspaper has become enjoyable again. Erudite, funny, philosophical and poignant. You’ve saved the journalistic profession!
Bari and team. Please don’t forget your original purpose and what brought you this success. Neutrality is what we are all craving, not an echo chamber. But still, congrats.
I've proudly been here since the beginning. Part of the reason I stay is because sometimes, your journalism makes me uncomfortable or feel challenged in my views. This is what good journalism does. It isn't an echo chamber telling me what I WANT to hear, it's a room telling me new things and challenging my beliefs - forcing me to think (and reassess) about those beliefs. Congratulations on this.
Your success is well-deserved! I’ve been around since very early in the Common Sense era, and I plan to stay around for a very long time, for as long as you stay true to your mission. Mazal tov!

One very happy customer in PA!

I've been a subscriber since common sense. But why the heck is it so hard to get free press at the top off my substack feed?
Kudos! With evangelistic fervor! A Sunday Morning favorite.
