New Islamist government, same old behavior. Disgusting!!. This has nothing to do with Israel or Jews. Can only imagine who is bankrolling this "government" - Iran or one of its proxies.
Does anything ever change in the middle east? The Assaads stayed in power for decades by growing the pile of bodies under them, now is payback time unfortunately, the cauldron continues.
If Iran/Hezbollah is trying to resuscitate their client that just shows that work remains to be done with those two.
Israel could take a page and form a pincer movement with Syria vs Hez. Finish the job
It seems premature to definitively say no Christians are being killed in Syria. The links cited as proof aren't convincing. The joint statement from the Orthodox Church posted on Facebook doesn't mention Christians specifically but it also doesn't mention Alwaites either. It simply condemns the violence. I don't see how that is "proof" that no Christians are being killed. Other orgs like the Iraqi Christian Foundation claim that over 1,800 people have been killed in total, including both Christians and Alawites. Downplaying the suffering of Christians seems like another attempt by America's foreign policy establishment to quell any public concern that our meddling in the Middle East might not actually advance America's interests. And I find it interesting that FP always finds a way to mention Tucker Carlson. Bari sure has it out for him.
Identity politics in action with predictable results. This is tribalism where group identity determines rights and always cause division and social dysfunction and are the main tools used by authoritarians and Strong Men leaders seeking mob power. It doesn't matter what labels are applied (in this case Alawite/Assad versus 'government'); the results are what matters. And the desired result is to better establish victim/victimizer credentials and deepen the divide in order to coalesce power. This is what it looks like in Syrian. It just looks different on western campuses in 'progressive' laws. But it's the same tribalism in action and we support it at our collective peril.
You better tell Reuters, AP and others major press outlets including ChatGPT that no christians were killed. Simple search says a resounding Yes they were targeted. The Arab piece you linked also blames Tucker and Elon for spreading rumors. I don’t know if it’s true or not but this chorus has a whiff of anti-U.S. conservatives TDS bias to it.
Sadly, religious divisions have sown the seeds of discord in the Middle East for ages, but where once geography and distance provided a buffer, modern transportation and infrastructure have brought the conflicting religions closer and better armed. Instead of spreading God's love, the regional religions have and continue to spread hatred and fear.
When a headline like this appears one today immediately thinks about Gaza. But no, there are massacres all over the Arab world, real genocide, but one will not find anybody demonstrating in Columbia over this.
Mahmoud Khalil, that great Palestinian patriot is Syrian, but none of this would interest him.
If Israel cannot be attacked, then gornisht, all quiet on the campus front.
Iran is a root cause, again. How many times does Iran need to be a root cause before Israel and the US wipe the mullahs and their upcoming nukes off the map? We've been waiting for months and there have been crickets.
This was revenge and eradication of Assad’s tribe so it doesn’t come back. Not much to do with Iran. This behavior is part of Middle East history going back to the beginning of recorded time.
When Hamas paraded the corpses of dead hostages, the people of Gaza cheered. When there is terrorism, there are no non-combatants. I don't think the death of 2 1/2% of the people in Gaza can possibly be called "genocide." Likewise in Syria. The Alawites had had their years of glory with Assad. Give the Kurds a chance now.
It is an atrocity to deliberately target civilians, for any reason. The murder of civilians who are Alawite is just as horrific as murdering civilians in Israel, the USA, or any other country.
And not a single UN agency, the General Assembly or the Security Council has condemned this genocidal violence. Contrast that with the relentless condemnation of Israel’s actions to rid Gaza of terrorists. It’s clear the world, and most especially Arab states, simply don’t care about Sunni on Shia violence!
By my count, that's one victim per several thousand of those Syrians slaughtered by the Alawite Assad regime, with the clear support of the Alawite community, as the attempted insurrection here make clear.
That kind of arithmetic of course does not excuse the killing of civilians, though the refrain that the victims were 'women and children' has arguably been worked to death by the West's apologists for Hamas. But the Alawite-Muslim conflict is only another of the region's many ethno-religious civil wars. To condemn them selectively gives tacit approval to those that aren't poster-child material, like the slaughter of Kurds in Turkiye, or further afield the genocide against Tibetans and Uyghurs. I don't see any liberals calling them out. Why not? I'd really like to know.
“ May God make it sop. Let us reach a point where the nnocents no longer have to die”. Amen

The Axis of Weasel is still alive

Interesting how culture informs how one perceives news stories.
I see zero correlation between the story reported and Israel. I do see one between the reported story and the Troubles in Ireland.
If I were from Myanmar, Ethiopia, or Sudan might make me think of current civil wars in those countries - which get zero coverage let alone protest.
Somehow neither UN or Human Rights Commission, feminists, lefty loons, BLM, LGBT+_()YAX, etc screaming about it.. What happened? No Jews, no news?

Better expand Israel, only way to ensure our safety. Not occupying Syria would be anti-semitic if you think about it
