Ben, wish you would've asked those kids WHY they raise hogs. They work hard every day to raise those animals and then sell them at the fair to RAISE MONEY FOR COLLEGE unlike some who wait for government bailouts.
There are a few things humans can’t live without, like air, water, food and shelter. If you grow up on a farm in an agrarian society you’re never far removed from them, from the very real possibility of failure that hangs over farmers’ lives all day every day. Only someone who has lived it can really humanize the brave people who undertake to feed us.
It's good to see a little light-heartedness. Blessings to you for that! The children were charming, in particular, as were your interactions with the politicians!
I only wish folks like Ben had said, “Can you tell I’m from New York CITY?” Most of the counties in New York State have county fairs each summer that resemble what he witnessed in Iowa. I live in an area I refer to as “the Wisconsin part of New York” as there are more cows than people around here. 😎
Very enjoyable. It’s a”must” that Ben repeat the same give/take and word association at the Oscars/Emmys/Tonys/Grammys red carpets. Do you think he’d even be issued credentials?
Brilliant vid - just brilliant. Totally don’t get the haters. He poked fun at the locals and poked fun at himself. None of it was malicious. If we can’t laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at?
He was condescending and making fun of these people. Good people. It wasn’t as blatant as say a Don Lemon , but he seems to think he’s better, smarter and more aware than these folks and is a walking illustration of why the “coastal elites” are hated in the “flyover “ states. I don’t think he knows all this and I don’t think he’s a bad guy but I believe that all of what I wrote is true. And it’s a large part of the reason Trump was elected and could be again.
well done ben - i enjoyed this - illuminating this divide and showing that despite my reservations with republicans i still prefer this company to that of the liberal elitists i grew up around in boston

Ben's videos should be longer! Please make them longer 😊
Ms Kawaker is so condescending and patronizing. The Free Press idea of meeting "America"
seemed like good idea, I thought.
But I felt so uncomfortable watching his videos.
The way he treats a kid, when he says he is from New York........ what a waste of my time

But thanks, Ben!

What waste of 5 minutes of my life. The only good thing about this video is that now I’ll know to avoid anything produced by Ben Kawaller.

Really enjoyed watching this

Ben, very brave going to rural America. Did you get your shots? Whatever you do don't drink the water.
Read David Foster Wallace's piece on Illinois State Fair which this idea mimics poorly. His read is a masterpiece!

I loved this. Fun and lighthearted. It’s through humor we can all heal the divide.
Oh no. Ben might be my new favourite. Sorry Douglas.
