No, I'm not buying the premise here. Corporations are about maximizing profit while minimizing risk. Just because Air France is stupid enough to risk flying into a war zone, doesn't mean US airlines have joined any kind of boycott.

There is a viable two state solution if one can think outside the 76 year old box. There is only one solution…the resettlement of every Arab Muslim away from Gaza and the West Bank to a place distant from Israel. The tip of the current anti-Israel ideological spear for the foreseeable future is Gaza and as such it is time to take away the matter of them.

“The surest way to prevent seditions (if the times do bear it) is to take away the matter of them. For if there be fuel prepared, it is hard to tell, whence the spark shall come, that shall set it on fire.” Sir Francis Bacon

The West can relieve Israel of the burden that is Gaza and West Bank “Palestinians” by insisting upon an alternative two state solution as the God of Abraham/Sinai, Yeshua and 1776 would have it i.e. Arabs trading land for peace rather than Israel. Doing so just maybe the last chance for Ishmaelites to exit the field before God intervenes…at which time it would not be wise for Islamists to be found on the land promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

From tiny acorns mighty oaks doth grow.

Go to Xwitter @Adler Pfingsten and read the articles “2026” “A Viable Two State Solution” and “The Reckoning”. Doing so will be well worth your time.

The US' non-interventionist-ish decision on this war still baffles me. Our greatest ally in the middle east, the most unstable resource rich region in the world, was viciously & unprovokingly attacked resulting in more than a thousand raped, tortured, abducted, & killed and we sit here condemning them for hitting back at the aggressors? Calling for a "two state solution"? 1. Hamas will NEVER accept a two-state solution, so US politicians need to stop saying 'I support a two-state solution' that isn't a solution. 2. Even if Hamas DID accept that, why should they be rewarded with their own state after this? Is this the image we want to show the world? When one of our greatest allies is attacked, we barely lift a finger and try to convince said ally to cede land/resources to the terrorists? If this happened to the United States would any of us be okay ceding land and rights to the organization that just attacked us and would be bordering with us? Would we ever feel safe?

-----> So why are the three major American carriers refusing to fly there?

Because they're being run by Ivy-League trained antisemites.

I really don't give a crap what the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA thinks about Israeli operations against Hamas.

The comments that rebut my point are of merit. However, sorry to say that although I know war always includes civilian casualties, I see no goal on how to get a peaceful solution. I do not think the Israelis can shoot their way out of this. There are always hopeless and hateful replacements for Hamas.

At some point, a strong leader on both sides (I do not believe Netanyahu is the right person) must be willing to take the risk and compromise (Sadat/Begin)

This is all about Iran. Until the murderous mullahs are no longer running that country, peace in the Middle East and the world is impossible. And if you think a 2-state solution is viable, you are very, very wrong. Iran doesn't want it because they want to kill Jews worldwide.

There are legitimate reasons, other than blatant discrimination, not to fly into a war zone. Are there flights to Ukraine?

Expand full comment

A quick search on Google Flights shows many round trip flights from NY to Tel Aviv for as litte as $586. They do stop over in Europe.

All eyes are on the kinetic war. That is not where the action is. This is a psychological and economic war and a war of attrition directed from Iran. The West (read: left) is playing right into Iran's hand. Already Iran's proxies have effectively reduced the size of Israel by squeezing the population out of the north and south. It is depressing to watch. Until the brutal and dangerous dictatorship of Iran is defeated, Israel will be on the defensive and soon too, will be the U.S.

My daughter lives in Israel and came home right when Iran was threatening to retaliate directly. United canceled her flight days before her travel date. She ended up rescheduling on Air France through Orly with long layovers on the way here and then a nail biter close lay over on the way back and cost us an extra $800 as we booked the united flight months ago. We kept thinking that they would start up again soon. ElAL actually has a missile defense system built into it which is kind of cool.

Huge disappointment about the rescheduling and the cost increase, glad your daughter made all the connections! Moving forward...

Knowing the ELAL screens passenger and luggage better, learning that its planes have missile defense, and assuming that the pilots are well trained to fly defensively....isn't this the best customer choice for business or family travel? There is price and then there is the value of a safe flight in a crazy dangerous world. Why would you even want to book on United, AA, or Delta after this experience?

True. As much as I get annoyed by ELAl and the expense, It’s worth it next time.

And I in Israel just went to sleep that night that Iran was supposed to attack us and woke up to the news that nothing had happened.

The simple answer is to permit any foreign carrier to fly direct from any US city to Israel. Re-allocate US carrier slots at the major US airports to facilitate it. Removing the barriers to foreign carriers would increase competition and replace US carriers on routes where they choose to cease service. The short version is enable the free market.

That is an excellent idea.

It's quite clear to me and anyone else paying attention that the Biden/Harris regime has a hand in this boycott of Israel.

Neither has ever been a friend of Israel and this is a golden opportunity for them to tip the scales against Israel and not take responsibility.

They are despicable.

Despicable pairing Carol. Can’t wait to see these two ars…..out of the White House come November.

Your comments are over the top. I support Israel and also am a member of the synagogue where Harris husband was bar mitzvahed. I do not believe Biden/Harris want to do any thing but support Israel, but are stuck in the middle as witnesses to the destruction of Gaza. This is complicated stuff and there are no "golden opportunities" for anyone.

@Seth Kramer - I don't know Doug Emhoff but he is not a good role model for a Jewish man. He seems to know little about Judaism and even less about Israel.

(Remember when he and Kamala tried to explain Hanukkah to the masses? Gevalt!) I'm not even sure he could point Israel out on an unmarked map. His Beta man persona and his Hamas supporting daughter do not inspire confidence to say the least.

There's a term that's been thrown around a lot lately. Something called a "cease fire". It's accurately described as the state of a conflict when neither side is actively firing weapons as the other side. Not too hard to understand. North Korea and South Korea have operated under one for decades.

Biden and Harris keep demanding that Israel stop firing weapons and unilaterally enact a cease fire with the terrorists who surround it. Yet the terrorists continue to fire weapons.

The closest thing Israel had to a cease fire with Hamas was in place on October 6 of last year. And then they broke it? Not exactly.

I'm not sure what Biden and Harris want from Israel, but it sure sounds like they do not support Israel's right to defend itself. And if the terrorists are hiding behind children and their weapons caches and information centers are in schools and hospitals, Israel has to decide between shooting the people who are shooting at them and killing some children in the process, or surrender. There is no third choice.

In the meantime, Biden and Harris support this "deal" with Iran that Obama put in place that has only ensured that Iran can develop nuclear weapons. In doing so, Obama has given Iran billions of dollars, which it uses to fund Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthi terrorists.

So no, they are no friend of Israel's. I won't comment on Harris's husband bar mitzvah because I don't think it's part of the ceremony to extend eternal political protection to one's future spouse. I don't speak or read Hebrew, so I can't be certain of that, but that's my understanding.

If only...! Unfortunately, your belief that Biden and Harris support Israel is contradicted by the facts on the ground. I can only hope that it is because you are misinformed and have not been exposed to or taken the trouble to take a close look at the facts. Belonging to the synagogue where Emhoff was bar mitzvahed has absolutely no bearing on this issue.

I stand by what I wrote.

Also, has anyone contacted the insurers of these airlines, to see how they are directing the decisions to not fly into a “war zone”? No US air carrier could even taxi on the tarmac without insurance, let alone fly into Israel today without clearance from insurers - who will also refuse to confirm or deny, so as not to be liable as well.

That’s not the case with Abu Dabi, or any other middle Easter Arab country. It’s also different for European airlines, since liability is define differently than in the states.

Along with the tragic loss of lives, the Lockerbie Bombling cost PanAm over 350 million dollars in 1988. PanAm went bankrupt (1991) for many reasons, but the pay out of millions of dollars may have hastened their demise. This event has got to be factor in the decisions of airlines and insurers when flying into countries labeled level 3-4 by the US State Department.

I agree, and I'm sure the reaction in the US would be quite different if an Arab airliner were shot down as opposed to a U.S. airliner.
