I see nothing wrong with being critical of Israel and Israel's atrocious treatment of Palestinian civilians. And Biden was right to call it: no doubt Israel's carpet bombing of civilian targets has been (and continues to be) “over the top." And no, no amount of whataboutism justifies it.... bombing poor people is bad policy. And make no mistake, Jewish settlers should be forced out of Palestinian land to make way for a 2-state solution.

That said, Israel exists and should be "allowed" to exist. Therefore, where these yahoos lose me, just like with so many of Israel's supporters, they seem to look the other way when "their own side" does bad and they defend these bad actions as "by any means necessary." In this case, many of them still see nothing wrong with Hamas, Hamas' tactics, and Hamas taking hostages.... and they still don't seem to recognize that "River to the Sea" literally means removing Israel from the face of the earth. Not to mention the stupidity of LGB activists defending people who would quite literally string them up for being LGB...

I see nothing wrong with being critical of Israel. I see a problem with demonization of Israel. Calling what Israel is doing "carpet bombing of civilian targets" is where you lose me. Israel does no such thing. If it were, there would be no civilian targets or civilians left in Gaza. You really don't need to believe anything Israel says to understand that. And yet, you have no problem tossing this obvious falsehood as conventional wisdom.

And as we see in the responses here, Israeli supporters can be just as delusional as Palestinian supporters.

Lance, using the term "carpet bombing" is delusional. You might as well have thrown in "scorched earth" while you were at it.

Israel doesn’t have the aircraft for carpet bombing, it’s so dumb to have to read that.

LOL - there are plenty of ways to carpet bomb cities in 2024 that don't require aircraft....

If you replaced “carpet bomb” with “attack” your statement would be correct.

As it stands, though, it’s incorrect. Somehow I doubt you’ll change your usage though.

The Palestinians have turned down a 2-state solution at least 5 times over the past century. When Arafat rejected the proposal endorsed by Clinton in 2000, he went back without further bargaining and greenlighted the 2nd intifada. That had the effect (desired?) of destroying the Israeli peace camp. 10/7 just reconfirmed that on the Palestinian side, there is no interest in a peaceful 2-state solution.

Jewish settlers were forced out Gaza in 2005, by the Israeli government. Doesn't seem to have had the result you expect. Why do you think doing the same thing again will have a different result?

So what do you suggest?

Cut off the supply of arms. Iran is a big funder.

Obama eased up on Iran and they now have more money. Trump reversed it, Biden reversed Trump. You can guarantee what Harris will do. Iran does NOT want Trump back.

You’re the one suggesting a solution. I’m just pointing out that it fits Einstein’s definition of insanity.

They keep reporting that they’re’carpet bombing’ but they aren’t. No amount of saying it makes it true

Yeah, except they are.

and circular sourcing is not legitimate: Just because NYT cites WP which sites reuters, which cites hamas is not a legitimate source. Which is how much of this misinformation is being laundered to become 'news'.
