I have to admit I don’t know anything about the causes behind this horrible day and all that have followed. Can anyone recommend unbiased sources I can learn from? Thanks

As I watch and listen to these young Pro Palestinian Protesters on campus a few things come to mind: They have very little knowledge of the “Middle East, and they are either very Anti Semitic or just hate Jews, or they feel cool and important wearing the kufiyya, and they are being led by the nose by groups who have a bigger agenda than just the Rights of Palestinians (who also hate Jews).

Hi - I am really just learning here, so please take this as a sincere desire to understand this issue--in no way am I siding with Hamas. This violence is horrific.

Apartheid - Is Israel an apartheid state? Are there those who disagree or would justify this? What is the argument? I see articles like this (below) and wonder about the hx of relations between Israel and Palestinians.

Today we stand with Israel and mourn with our Israeli brothers and sisters. We cannot allow this barbarity to stand.

"Think about 9/11 and the kind of shock and terror we felt. That is what Israelis feel today. That is the level of devastation Israel is now experiencing."

When I first started seeing footage from the attack this was exactly what filled my head. Horrifying, unjust, irrational murder of innocent people for the purpose of causing existential fear.

Hamas foolishly picked a moment, or perhaps intentionally, when Israel has or is in the process of normalizing relations with its neighbors. I have not looked at the news but I'd be surprised if Israel received push-back from those neighbors.

Though I was not surprised about the reaction of American communist antisemitic automatons, I was surprised, and proud, that we've sent a battlegroup off shore to support Israel.

This must not be permitted to happen again.

It's well past time to rethink Biden's border policy. Anyone who thinks terrorists are not coming over our open border, isn't paying attention to how Palestinian terrorists infiltrated Gaza prior to the attack.

In addition, I question Israel's policy to not allow their law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. Our Second Amendment will most certainly come into play if terrorists try the same style attack here. There's no reason for citizens there to be defenseless.

Obviously, what Hamas did was totally wrong and I think they deserve serious consequences at this point. Some Palestinians and their sympathizers are celebrating it, which is ghoulish and scary. The response to them largely seems to refer to the evils of antisemitism and the persecution of the Jewish people. I get that. But it seems to me that it's primarily the terror which is wrong, antisemitism aside. If some group starts randomly killing people that aren't Jewish, it's still atrocious.

Why is Barack Obama silent? His foreign policy foolishness played a big role in bringing this on.

The truth is that Israel is an evil regime that has been in the process of ethnically cleansing the Palestinians for the past 75 years. They deserve far worse.

Bari thank you for this coverage. I stand with Israel. I do have to wonder if this changes your opinion on Trump. I know that if he were the president, this would not have happened. America didn’t respect him, but world leaders feared and respected him.

An attack of this magnitude would not have happened if Trump was still in office. He would have assassinated many of Iran's ruling class and Hamas wouldn't be a stain on the ground after this. They know that, not to mention the fact that Team Biden poured vast amounts of cash to these barbarians.

This reeks of Iran, and just on the heels of Biden, freeing up $6 billion to Iran, giving them the opportunity to use other money to fund this nefarious despicable act. The world is on fire, and this is the result of a weak America. We pray for Israel all they want is to be left alone! Evidently that’s just too much to ask.

Just read a Washington Post article that didn't even mention any of the specifics of Saturday's attacks until paragraph six (and then only got as specific as saying that "The attack on Saturday saw Palestinian gunmen infiltrate Israel at multiple points" - a fairly sanitized description.) But somehow the Post saw fit to inform us in paragraph one that "A swelling counterattack by Israeli forces in Gaza killed more than 400 people, including 78 children." What was that you were saying Bari?

On a more positive note, the Wall Street Journal's coverage has been quite good, unflinchingly reporting the truth from Israel, Gaza, and Iran. WSJ is now, imo, NYC's newspaper of record.

If Sonora Mexico was taken over by terrorists who launched missiles at Austin, Huston , and Dallas the US Army would invade in a day and occupy Sonora. We didn’t do that three times. Why not? We heard during the last Gaza War that the “Israeli Security Establishment” is not in favor of reoccupying Gaza. Benny Ganz who is emblematic of the leftist elite that comprises that “security establishment” convinced Netanyahu during the last war not to invade Gaza because it would lead to a protracted guerrilla war. That won’t happen however if Gaza is flattened first. Why does the leftist “security establishment” refuse to take over Gaza which is what every normal country would do? Because they realize that reoccupying Gaza would be the nail in the coffin of their precious “land for peace” fantasy.
