The Olivia Reingold article is not very helpful. A rehash of superficial analysis of the Daniel Penney/ Neely event through a racial lens mainly. No real exploration of the level of chaos and disorder the public is expected to tolerate from the violently mentally disturbed. Manages to avoid the issues of what the public should do when the authorized agents of civil order refuse to act or are incapable of doing so due to philosophical inclination or shear incompetence. Where are the interviews with the other two men involved in the fatal restraint? Where are the interviews with the agents of the “system” who lost track of/abandoned Neely? I would hope TFP could do better than talking to people from Islip about a nice kid from a nice family.
