I will massively take the “under” that NPRs new “Editorial layer” will have any material impact on its content. The Staff are ideological extremists who are, however, exceedingly good at generating a product that the remaining listeners really want. It makes the (generally midwit) audience feel smart. Erudite. Superior. It’s quite addictive. The dealers will satisfy the market demand.

I love the proposed debate format. Presuming an “important” topic, you SHOULD be able to speak for 60-90 minutes to articulate and defend your position. It SHOULD be a barometer for your fitness to take the big chair.

And with the 2 current candidates, it would be hilarious comedy.

What I want to know is, Trump has been committing crimes of various kinds for *decades*. Why didn't the City of New York go after him then? Why wasn't this hush money trial during his first term? And are his fanboyz/girlz going to whine if he goes to trial for stealing top secret documents, which he SHOULD be prosecuted for?

Really, only loonies of NYC give a shit about the Knicks. Really.

TFG is becoming just another coastal mainstreamer. Why not find someone to write about the Pacers? Oh, yeah, they are in Indy and no “smart” people live there. They are grads of IU, Purdue, Evansville, etc.

Publish Nocera if he has something to say that is of broader interest. Or regional interest outside the shitty big cities. Otherwise, leave him out.

Bari, do you ever reflect on your approach?

Ben Kawaller once a weak ain’t doing the job.

Just have to say, I really like the portrait of King Charles. It is quite red but the portraiture of him is excellent. Something different is always good for the monarchy.

I have a possible solution to recommend for the presidential debates. Have clear rules for timing, and against interrupting and talking over. Turn off the mic of either candidate who breaks the rules, maybe with some kind of flashing light or other three second warning. Otherwise the debates are just a trashy shit-show.

The debates could not get worse, so the proposed format gets my support. I just try to imagine Biden staying awake and focused while his opponent talks for 60 or 90 minutes. Then I try even harder to imagine Biden speaking coherent, ynfor 60 or 90 minutes.

Finally, and by now you know I am not optimistic, I try to imagine the typical voter paying attention. I remember watching anything on television, when I watched as recently as 6 years ago. It was always made for viewers with a terribly short attention span.

Get your facts straight, Ollie: inflation is not "cooling" -- that's bidenspeak for the inflation RATE not rising quite as fast in April as it had in March. The fact is that inflation continues to rise with every passing month. Next, you'll be spouting Biden's repeated and brazen lie that the inflation rate was 9% at the start of his presidency when in fact it was only 1.4%. It rose to 9% only as a result of his reckless spending.

I work in the electric power business....we deal with a lot of government agencies. I noticed about 5 years ago that the government employees we encountered were smarter and better educated than before. Somehow the government started to attract the A students. A couple of engineers I would have hired turned up in government jobs!

The government is now paying more than private companies on a monthly salary basis. If you figure in benefits and pension, private industry can't compete. This is dangerous. You do not want smart people working for the government.

This is the most slanted description of the NY prosecution possible. 1. No evidence of the purported crime has been introduced. NDAs are legal this bizarre legal theory demands Trump himself having mislabeled the book keeping of the payment I correctly because it was a payment to keep the electorate from finding out. Testimony from 3 of the prosecution witnesses suggest he was trying to keep it from his wife, protect his family and protect his brand. Only convicted felon liar Michael Cohen has a different story. Cohen's lawyer from 2018 testified in front of Congress that a) Cohen told him he did all this without Trumps participation and he testified that Cohen is a compulsive serial liar. b) he introduced reams of evidence of this to the grand jury which was excluded as here-say when that is allowed in a grand jury. Also, Merrick Garlands number two prosecutor resigned his job to go to NY and prosecute this case. This is banana republic stuff and the public knows it.

Will one of 12 NY jurors be honest, who knows but the case is CROOKED
