It has gone very wrong for Germany, of late. Cheap Russian gas has proven to be very expensive. The closing of Germany’s nuclear power plants was a big mistake. Germany has not handled the rise of China very well. Mass immigration has not worked out well for Germany. Echoes of the GFC are still hurting Germany. The worst problem (for Germany) is the unwillingness to change.

As for digitalization, this is something I know about. I personally use several pieces of software written in Germany. They are quite good.

"Journalists in the legacy press spent two years reporting on a conspiracy theory--that Trump had been installed by the Russian government--and won Pulitzers for their work."

This reminds me that the English-born comedian/actress/singer (etc.) Tracey Ullman once did some funny sketches that featured the "Melania Bot", in which Melania Trump was really a robot planted by the Russians to spy on and influence President Donald Trump. Here is a sample, in which the bot starts malfunctioning and its Russian handlers travel to America to try to fix it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmuR2XFxkdU

Trump’s admin is filled with the most Pro-Israel, anti-Islamist cabinet in American history. Hegseth, Rubio, Tulsi, Zeldin, Stefanik, Budnick, Kash Patel, Radcliffe,Witkoff, and though I’m not crazy about them- Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Matt Gaetz. Ric Grenell will have a spot, too.

The Iranian people will be able to overthrow the regime and Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, Taliban, Al Qaeda, UNRWA, UNESCO… the money supply dried up, are over. The Palestinians will have no choice but to come to the table.

In a perfect scenario, we’d completely withdraw from the UN, WEF, WHO , defund the Ivy Leagues, ban NGOs and takedown all the traitors within the U.S.

But Trump’s Hitler.

Qatar isn’t shutting out Hamas. They’re retracted the statement.., if they ever issued it to begin with. Trump’s admin will isolate and shut down Qatar altogether.

“And though she was (wrongly!) canceled for it, comedian Kathy Griffin best summed up the cultural moment when she posed for a photoshoot holding up the president’s (fake) bloody, severed head.” “Wrongly??” Seriously?

Anyone not armed should do themselves a favor and get a gun and learn at least the basics of how to shoot it. This is true at all times, not just during a Presidential transition. If this is what it takes for gun-hating city elite to go out and buy a gun, I am all for it.

Whoever coined the perjorative "Trump Derangement Syndrome" failed History 101. There has never been a Presidential candidate in the history of the U.S. with Trump's record of adjudicated criminal guilt (sexual assault, illegally influencing a New York political campaign, racial discrimination in housing, and fraud in Trump University), not to mention his trail of bankruptcies. You may certainly disagree (as did the majority of voters in the 2024 election ), but it is very reasonable - not deranged - to declare Trump unfit for office.

TDS does not present primarily as disapproval of the Orange Man but by the obdurate resistance to any policy that is good for the country but which, if adopted, might somehow, by someone, be interpreted as vindication of an idea associated, however remotely, with him.

Just want to clarify that he was not convicted of sexual assault. He lost a civil trial.

After a decade of seemingly endless daily attacks on Trump, I think we can now safely say that "the sky is falling" formula did not work very well for either Chicken Little or Democratic party leftists.

By your standards, the “on the take from China, Ukraine” Bidens should be on death row.

I know that The Free Press is not a conservative read, but I think the (wrongly) does not belong in this statement. What Kathy Griffin did was a bridge too far IMHO, and she deserved to be cancelled, and worse.

Hmm, what is 'worse"? Cancelling is one thing, being all up in the social media butthole -- but worse? Not sure. Beheading? Broken on the wheel, yeah, the 'Katherine wheel', that's probably appropriate..

I'm not entirely sure what worse would be, but I didn't really see that she got canceled so much. But if I thought she should be beheaded or tortured, I would be stooping to her level & I won't go there.

TDS was/is crazy at the extremes, but anyone who has no concerns at all about the entanglements of Trump and his circle with Russia, and his fairly open coddling of Putin, is a partisan. No, the Muller Report did not "exonerate" him.

Expand full comment

The setups on the Left were so absurd that Muller feigned dementia to not have to answer questions in cross examination. Who said we shouldn’t speak to our enemies? FDR and Stalin? The lesser of two evils — keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Biden was very chummy with China — with benefits.

Early in his first administration, Trump cleared the room of Americans…and the American translator…so he could have a private conversation with the Russian ambassador and foreign secretary.

perhaps that's why Russia did not invade Ukraine during his administration.

I think the women who want to deny sex as a protest are doing the men they meet a big favor. What man in his right mind would want to get involved with a woman like that? Better to know up front and just move on without complications.

Point of historical irony: Women had their heads shaved to mark them and humiliate them for fraternizing with the Nazi enemy. Now the self-styled anti-Fascists are doing it to themselves.

So, Democrats are anxious about the Trump victory and thinking about arming up. I am no fan of Trump and his MAGA supporters, but from what I have seen the past year on campus and in the streets, arming up is more to protect against the radical Muslim extremists and their fellow progressive travelers…especially if you are Jewish.

The latest: Making having sex or not a protest tactic
