Tim Urban, Katherine Boyle, and Victor Davis Hanson on SpaceX’s triumph. Plus: Democrats voting for Trump. Ben Kawaller’s latest Swing State Debate. And more.
Thank You Shaun Maguire for the Space X video. I remember the day I took my mother and a friend out to Edwards Air Force Base to watch one space shuttle land and another take off piggyback on a 747 (?) bound for Florida.
The shuttle came down out of the sky much faster than it appeared on TV or film. Like a stone dropping out of the sky. The landing had perfect. There would be no second chance.
THE MOST amazing thing I've ever seen. Holy moly. It gave me chills. It's incredible what people with talent and vision, supported by capital, can accomplish. Bravo, America!
“U.S. intelligence officials have warned that Tehran’s threats to the former president have “heightened in the past few months” and are “extraordinarily serious.”
I can’t help but wonder if US intelligence officials “warnings” are a ruse. With polls looking increasingly favorable for Trump, Iran’s threats are probably the least serious
There are so many thing's on this page that are offencive and hard to rationalize. For one to grasp the fact that our nation has been through several wars and a few financial meltdowns but we're still strong. How that's possible when we're divided by race and other things that seem trivial when you step away and look in from a different place.
We're all in this boat together and if it sinks we all die together, so let's start rowing together and we won't be going around the drain arguing about who's in charge.
We know who’s in charge — a bunch of sniveling Leftist billionaires and their political sycophants. Musk, like Jobs, are outliers. Trump is better than the cardboard cutout Harris, but the billion dollar leftist ad campaign may trump Trump. Lots of nonthinkers and replacement voters out there.
It is time for TFP to get John Spencer or someone else to do an article about the military law of siege, since Israel is clearly imposing on northern Gaza. Under the rules of war, siege IS legal, with certain protections for civilians that does not require sending aid to them. America doesn't understand this, so it's time for TFP to do with TFP does best. Thank you.
"Unfortunately, civilians are often trapped within when entire towns or other populated areas are besieged, causing unspeakable suffering. IHL offers vital protection to these civilians by imposing limits to what the parties can do during such sieges. Crucially, civilians must be allowed to leave a besieged area, when it is required to spare them from the effects of military operations or when they lack the goods essential for their survival, including whenever a siege involves the use of starvation as a method of warfare." https://www.icrc.org/en/document/protection-civilian-population-during-sieges-what-law-says
“I don't care if Musk is kooky, he's just one guy”
Kudos to all SpaceX employees and the man who hired them! It goes to show what can be done when you engage the best people to do a job. No DEI there.
As amazing as SpaceX’s latest achievement is, what may be under appreciated is the guts it took to withstand the lawsuits, fines and bureaucratic inertia directed at him by the apparatchiks embedded in federal agencies.
“He’s just one guy”. What a hoot. Without that “one guy” there would be no space program, no EVs that people line up to buy, no “Twitter files” that exposed the pro-censureship crowd and real threats to free speech in this country. “Just one guy” indeed. He’s a once in a century force - thankfully a force for good in this world. That feeling you state about “we’re more back than ever”. That’s thanks to “one guy”. And it ain’t Joe Biden.
As VDH noted, Musk is a renaissance man in the mould of Aristotle, Caesar, Jefferson and Franklin. And these take "360 degree" incoming, or as pioneers, take the arrows.
Well stated. But it takes someone at the top, like Musk, who is eccentric, crazy and visionary enough to risk his money on such ventures. I was going to say "risk his money and reputation," but I'm starting to think Musk doesn't give two figs about what most other people think of him.
Says today's piece, "President Biden quietly instructed his National Security Council to make it clear to Iran that if they try to kill Donald Trump, it’s an act of war." "Quietly"? It has been publicized in many news stories in past days, including this one. I don't think that word means what you think it means. (thanks, Inigo Montoya).
French is not a "Republican" voting for Harris. He is a lawyer - a professional con-man, insider and turncoat that benefits from the administrative state. A RINO who's shown his true colors.

A Very Fine Day.
Thank You Shaun Mcquire for the Space X landing video!
"Antisemitism Defintion Update" #614
Reporting on dead children in Gaza is the new "blood libel."

Today TFP gave an open invitation to Kamala Harris to be interviewed on Honestly. How about inviting Vance or Trump?
Ummm … why did that video of the spaceship being caught by the chopsticks make me CRY??? Wow. Amazing.

The Trump campaign should hire Shabbos Kestenbaum. Very impressive in the podcast
A truly amazing technological feat.
It was so inspiring to see Americans cheering this phenomenal accomplishment by their fellow countrymen.

The Whitmer-Dorito thing: I thought it was a dominatrix-furry thing.
Thanks for "clearing" that up.
The spaceship stuff was SO COOL.
I don't care if Musk is kooky, he's just one guy.
So many people put their time and effort into making that happen and the results were awesome.
Anyone who can't appreciate that is just, idk, they must be crazy, how can you not think that was awesome?
It's been 55 years since the moon landing and for a while it felt like we kind of just didn't care anymore.
But now it feels like we're so back, we're more back than ever before.

As a Texan, I can't even believe the Ted Cruz race is this close. I swear it's all the West Coasters ruining Texas. GO HOME.
