After watching the entire debate, How any sane person who is reasonably compos mentis could conclude that Trump is fit for ANY office, even for local dog catcher let alone for President, is beyond belief.

"And things couldn’t be closer there: The RealClearPolitics average has the race tied."

Only because the Bloomberg Poll (which includes RV vs LV ) has Harris +4. If you only focus on Likely Voters (which is what the 6 other polls were), then Trump is ahead.

The first time I voted Republican was in 1980. Reagan with all his faults made me proud to be an American. Is it any wonder the left/Woke would disparage him? The movie reminds us of what was. The fact that Chainlink is supporting Giggles speaks to his character. H.R. McMaster understands Trump. As for Vacuous the Afghanistan withdrawal says it all. Nothing more need be said! As for Blinken’s Middle East foreign policy, it’s placate Iran, attempts to rationally deal with Hamas beasts & express their frustration with Israel.

I just hope everyone has a good time this election season and both teams win.

Good article on an important topic. Federal governments main role should be foreign policy.

The photo doesn't show her eating a Dorito, just holding the bag. Maybe she's waiting for Hillary to put some hot sauce on it.

Wait, there is a disconnect between media and the great unwashed? Surely not! And no peace through strength is not the answer...Afghanistan, Iraq 1 and 2, Libya, etc show that strength that is unprincipled leads to more war and profits for the machine. Strong is good, trying to bully everyone into a pretend "peace" is not.

Yet again, Weiss, et al, must be gratified to have the "cat eating" rumor spread in their comments section. Keep on keeping on providing a forum for these uplifting discussions, Bari!

It's not a rumor. It's actually happening. Haitians in that town are also grabbing ducks from parks and eating them as well. How about you get your head out of the warm, dark, smelly place and look around at the real world once in awhile Mark, and understand what insane Biden-Harris policy has done to this country.

I disagree, we know very well who is in charge, and they were not elected.

"Participants look at the Topol-M mobile launcher"

Based on Russian performance in Ukraine we don't know if the thing will work, (The Russian's don't know either.)

I hope that we never find out. On the other hand, Victoria Nuland won't be happy until she gets us all killed.

Dick Cheney needs to stay in his cave. There is no American more responsible for our debacle in Iraq and the consequent growth of Iranian influence in the Middle East than Cheney. Iraq was the most effective counterweight to Iran until we destroyed it. Cheney scores zero on strategic thinking. Yet he apparently thinks that his opinion on who should be the next president carries weight. Weight with whom?

First comment saved me from what I'd hoped would be educational. Even when it was stated that the general was not flattering to his old boss. (Which fact is the only thing that got the essay published, right Mr Wiseman?) Meanwhile...

“…for the present, no one knows who is in charge of the United States.”

Yip that’s exactly why the Free Press produced the article

General H.R. McMaster: '...crises will extend to the homefront. ...So what can we do? Support whoever is elected. Urge him or her to strengthen our nation, abandon the obsession with de-escalation, and convince the axis of aggressors that they can no longer pursue their objectives with impunity.'

- Who do you think will meet those goals? Geez general, I wonder

'The target of much of the (Biden/Harris admin) frustration is Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who, ...doesn’t want a deal right now.” Exactly what it is about the fundamentalist sociopath that makes him such a tricky negotiating party remains unclear.'

- What is it Olly? Really?

' "Establishment" Republicans backing Harris, like the Cheneys, are the mirror image of those "misfit former Democrats" who have endorsed Trump'

- Stupid AND biases Olly?

In other, meaningful news, there is a massive and historic protest for free speech going on on Brazil, which American journalists are ignoring.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is explicitly telling interviewers that the government must stop the first amendment and control free flow of information. She is an enemy of the Constitution and the farthest left socialist candidate the country has ever seen.

Oliver doesn't seem to care. You would think free speech would be a bigger deal to journalists.

Expand full comment

Indeed. The FP is falling into a common trap. The real story is the admin hid the truth about Joe and now ignores the lies and Harris can't manage her shoe closet much less a country. She is a complete manufacture of the machine with no substance and THAT is the story. Follow the truth when you find it. May disturb but won't hurt. The FP is now telling stories...stop and expose the lies and complete fabrications that have nothing to do with truth.

Wiseman isn't a journalist. He's a Leftist who works in journalism. Which... to be far to Oliver... is just about EVERYONE working in journalism today.

Shame on us for believing Bari when she sold us all on the promise of Common Sense.

The profit margin here must be insane. It must be more than any conceivable N.Y.T. check.

I stay (mostly) for the comments.

I've unsubscribed. I will however get my money's worth letting Bari and her Leftist writers know how I feel about being misled with the promises of Common Sense only to be bait-and-switched with The FP, which is 95% all in on the Democrat Party Agenda. That 5% they don't is believing Israel should be a country. Other than that, they're all on board with the DNC so much so that just like the mainstream media, they ignore any and all stories that are positive for Trump and would hurt Commie-la.

I live in PA and have for decades. That’s all bullshit. I’ve watched how this state gets voted out for democrats and it is astonishingly effective. If you’re in a city you’ve got a max 15 min to walk to vote and maybe 15 min you’re done. Even during the pandemic. You don’t and your polling place likely makes no sense had a very long line and you’ve probably got a job.

Consider this too. If that was done to the wrong color people it would be a complete freak out. You pull it and think people don’t understand go up to Scranton, see if someone painted FJB on the highway Shapiro renamed.

You have to read most of the article before you find out Nat Silver would bet (carefully) on Trump who is in his objective analysis more likely to win (pre-debate).

Expand full comment

yeah, but Silver is too "proud" to actually vote for Trump, something he can not or will not articulate related to J6 actions by Trump. IF they were such bad things Trump did, why can't Silver explain it to people. Or just shut up and vote for 45 to become #47.
