The greats like Murrow, Royko, and Bradlee are certainly smiling down on what you have done for journalism. Thank you Bari for having the vision, drive, and integrity to get the story.
Suggestion: When I scroll through the stories, tap into one to read, and then tap Done, the list of stories should maintain my place. I don’t want to have to keep scrolling back down every time.
Can we get the “View in App” button back? I personally like reading the articles in Substack app and now have to search Substack to try and locate specific articles there. I’m not sure they are all there by the way.
Can't say I'm loving this change. I like to listen to the newsletters but I can't see how long the post is and I can't change the speed of the reading. Hope this gets fixed.
I treasure my TFP subscription and the TGIF pieces make me laugh every time. I'm even the proud owner of swag - ball cap and sweatshirt. Kudos on selling high quality merch with seamless ordering and delivery! Now that's said, I'm not a huge fan of the new site's look. Reminds me of a college graphics professor (back when computer graphics were 'new-ish') who admonished us not to succumb to 'font madness' just because we could! Progress, not perfection, is still an admirable goal and I imagine you'll improve it over time based on thoughtful feedback from devoted fans.
I've been reading TFP since it was Common Sense. Unfortunately, I'll miss out on this new site, as after many years, I won't be renewing my subscription. I am not willing to support a news publisher whose coverage of RFK Jr is not balanced or fair. TFP has become trash like so many others.
I love the work you guys do here but I'm sorry Bari, this website face-lift ain't cutting it for the work you guys do. The Substack team may have helped with changing the look a tad but I don't think it's doing you guys many favours. The tough part is, when your core business is built on Substack, there's only so much you can do with the customization of this website (Substack sadly does not have an API to allow for more of a custom approach to the frontend). As you continue to grow, it's going to make it harder and harder to leave this space as everything you guys publish is tied to this platform.
I've worked as a frontend dev for around 10 years now, the past 4 being freelance. I know the comment section isn't the best place to market yourself but feel free to message me in the future if you need a consultant surrounding anything web related. I can point you in a much better direction.
You’ve got me til July. I expect some better balance in covering the bad ideas on both sides. You’re slipping into the Daily Wire territory. Where there is a for-profit business, there can be no truly bias-free reporting (let’s face it, like most media this is a majority op ed outlet). There seems to be little interest in covering anything outside of criticism towards the left. That makes this a much less interesting place to visit.
I like the new look of the website but the daily emails from TFP no longer fit in the window of Outlook. They are stretched so far that I can't read them without maximizing the window. I like to read a few lines of an article in the email before I chose to click on the link to read the whole thing on the website. First world problem, I know, but I liked how the other version of email worked a lot better.
Congrats! Love the new look, but it looks wonky (oversized header graphic) in Outlook (Windows) and doesn't print well (for those who like to read offline at times). Please consider!

Loving my subscription… Loving the content… Would love it if you actually had an app?!?!… Is that on the list?

I like the new look. Blocking TGIF should be a crime albeit a Mrs-demeanor
The new look and feel, to me, feels amateurish and decidedly not aesthetically pleasing. All for trying new things, but this was clearly a miss.
Was there a sale at the big and tall font store?

You all must be exhausted! Amazing energy for a much-needed product.

This is what I call "sticking the landing" after jumping the shark.

The skewering is the key, and since one can complement one site with another skewering the other way, requiring balanced skewering seems off.
But the skewering here is now diluted which is what I am finding offputting.
Anyway if you want two sides, realclearpolitics has lots of leading left voices they pull in that at least attempt to skewer the right.
The FP will have some fresh material in about it a month.
