What a disappointing podcast. I turn to The FP to hear divergent, well thought out positions. I felt like I was listening to partisan media. The host was completely biased in tone and language. I expect to be able to turn here to be able to learn. Please do better.
I feel like I was listening to Fox news with this episode. It was caddy, nasty, whiny and biased. Dean Philips is the only one who was worth listening to. What a major waste of time and disappointment. And Batya has got to stop whining.
I was very disappointed with the podcast hosted by Michael Moyenham . It was not up to your usual standard. I must admit I did not listen to the whole broadcast because I found the conversation verging on Conspiracy nonsense and in particular,, Bayta was on a rant that was neither balanced or particularly informative. I listen to your podcast to hear divergent views based on facts and balanced perspectives. This podcast was the opposite of that.
I don't like Dean Phillips at all. He didn't come out against Biden to be some kind of paragon of virtue. He did it because Biden was weak and he thought he could make a name for himself. The Democrats brushed him off like he wasn't even there. Thank you for playing that clip of Kamala talking nonsense, I would have posted a link to it otherwise. Well, where is our paragon now? I mean c'mon truth teller, why isn't Dean pointing out that Kamala also appears to have had a stroke?
He won't because Kamala isn't weak right now. She's the favorite to be the party nominee, and being honest now would require Dean Phillips to risk his career with zero possibility of reward. So of course he isn't doing it.
He's not standing on principle.
At the end recording the topic of Kamala being unlikable came up with a comparison to Trump who is likable. The difference is that Trump is authentic. If you ran into Trump and he was half drunk at a bar at 1:00 AM I bet he would sound exactly the same. I have no idea who the actual Kamala is under that bizarre politician veneer that she puts on. It's like she thinks nobody notices how fake she acts? It's very strange. Before I saw that video clip of Kamala repeating the same nonsense line. I just always assumed she was bad under pressure and would say these bizarre things off the cuff. But no, apparently she plans them out ahead of time and thinks it sounds amazing.
Imagine the echo chamber she must live in. Where everyone around her agrees that the strange catchphrase makes sense. Pretty Wild.
Maybe one of the craziest comparisons I heard in a while is how "Trump does not listen to the elites. He listens to his voters"... WHAT THE ACTUAL F*** ?????? Are you kidding me ? Trump will say whatever he wants for his own purpose. Trump is the ultimate cult of personality. He is not anti elite. He is the last elite standing.
I just dont buy the "coup" analogy. Yes, *powerful* *very* rich people were publicly speaking / calling for him to resign. But they had no active power to remove him. Sure, they strong armed him, cajoled etc, but Biden could have just kicked his heals in and said no. But he didnt.
I stopped listening after her opening rant about a “soft coup.” I used to think she was an independent leftie thinker, but she’s increasingly become just an indiscriminate flame thrower. I generally skip over anything she’s involved in anymore.
OMG I listened to this and am just so regretful that I didn’t pay any attention to Dean Phillips when the primary happened. This is the kind of sane, balanced, principled person who SHOULD be president. That he was suppressed by the Democratic poobahs tells us everything. My only excuse is that I didn’t look beyond what the establishment — press and political — told me. I would vote for Phillips in a second if the opportunity ever comes up again.
This was X posting below of Biden letter on Sunday. You might also be reading others who are saying the letter referenced below could be a false flag since no one has heard from Joe since.
When Van Jones likened President Biden to a pitcher who was out of gas and doing what’s best for the team by retiring to the bullpen, he was particularly apt. But a pitcher never pulls themselves - the manager tells them they are done and calls in the relief. In this case, the people expect the President to be the Manager, not simply a player on the team who can be sent to the locker room when they’re getting shellacked. Credit to Van for the analogy, even though he didn’t think it all the way through.

Good episode, lame finish…. Go home and take a nap. Do better.

Whatever claptrap you spue, it can be said in spades about the so competitive Trump nomination.

I'm 5 minutes in and Batya sounds unhinged. This is such a disingenuous argument.

Correction….Biden didn’t ‘say’ as in announce. He put a letter on X. What? World leaders are wondering along with most Americans
"Tonight" it was morning here in Colorado. It was tonight in Europe.
The stream was on X at 7pm ET last night. 7/21.
