Thanks for perfectly explaining the "Don't Say Gay" flap. We Republicans are not adept and disadvantaged at defending our positions.....the Democrats throw up an "iron man" and enjoying the bulk of the media have already set the agenda before we can react.....and then we often do it poorly. This is why I love Common Sense....... Thank you God and Bari Weiss.
I just watched Peter Robinson interview Bari. It was so amazing. Throughout the whole thing I kept thinking: maybe Nellie's TGIF is shallow/terrible as some sort of good cop - bad cop foil just so we can have a good discussion? I don't know and I do not mean to be unkind. But, of course, I am upset by the Gender Ideology takeover of our society and our young people. We teach/groom anti science GI in schools now.
For the record, I still generally agree with Larry Summers. Could gasoline go to $5 per gallon? Sure it could. Also for the record, I don't own a Tesla and my cars run on the stuff from Shell. If $5 gasoline is the worst thing that happens to Americans, we have gotten off light. People in the Ukraine are dying and we are 'suffering' at the pump. Of course, some Americans will have more problems paying $5 than others and I don't mean to make light of folks with long commutes (or live in rural areas).
I shared the "Boycotting of all things Russian" item with friends and family on Friday. After re-reading that email today I realized the boycotters are helpless Twitter-based lifeforms.
Stephen Colbert and Larry Summers can both kiss my butt! I cannot afford to pay much more for gas, groceries, utilities, or anything else. All of this inflation was in play way before the invasion of Ukraine, but this administration and the media that protects them assume we're all too stupid to know when they're gaslighting us into poverty. Our government ALWAYS finds the money to spend elsewhere while US citizens get fleeced to death. They did this in 2014, while they simultaneously shut down US unemployment benefits, but McCain found billions to send to Ukraine to procure their "preferred" outcome in Ukraine at that time. Some of us still remember that.
This new line of propaganda that we have a moral obligation to adhere to this line of BS about paying more for gas to support the people of Ukraine is ludicrous and insulting to anyone with a working brain. If this administration wasn't hell-bent on prematurely destroying the oil and gas industry, we wouldn't be in this predicament. Nothing that comes out of Jen Psaki's mouth is ever going to convince me otherwise. When there's no rational justification for their policies, you can be sure that they'll trot out the "moral obligation' trope right on cue (and no, by pointing that out, I am not condoning the invasion of Ukraine, I'm calling out the BS of our own administration, which is far from innocent in this mess).
I'm no expert on the Ukraine or its history, but I know nefarious US State Dept. meddling when I see it, and thus, we are at this point. This is not the first time Ukraine has been pawned in the struggle between the US/NATO and Russia, and once again, the citizens of Ukraine pay the ultimate price, while the powers-that-be watch and scheme in the shadows. I pray for those poor people and the suffering to which they are being subjected. I'm angry that our so-called leaders dare to utter the term "democracy" in this situation at all, given the erosion of democracy in our own country and neighboring Canada. In my opinion, the US and Canada (and Europe) have lost any moral credibility in that regard. And what skin are the Europeans putting in the game? (other than Poland taking in millions of refugees). Still hooked on Russian oil and gas, right? So, Europeans don't have any moral obligation to see their savings annihilated while US citizens send $14 billion more in aid? Funny how "moral obligations" always translate to US taxpayers being bled dry.
I've been looking to multiple sources to learn more about the truth that brought us to this point. I do recommend the Oliver Stone documentaries for one perspective. Both are well worth the watch , but have been removed from YouTube (gee I wonder why?), but here are links:
Oh. Right. Another comment. Wasn’t it Biden that said — America, make American, buy America? And why not make American FUEL.
ALAS, most understand that the left is wildly ignorant about FOSSIL FUELS. (Your jacket, your rug, your socks, your phone, computer, fridge … all POLY)
What about the single Mom - with 3 kids, living in FRESNO - that works at the real estate office -making $43K. She is paying over $4.00 for gas, under AMERICAN ENERGY INDEPENDENCE she paid $2.10.
I’m late with comments - because I’m busy trying work, volunteer and read. NONE OF THESE activities alter the way MOMS think of grown ups talking to their PRE-K thru 3rd grader about their genitals. It’s UNACCEPTABLE- and I will have you thrown in jail for pedophilia - sexual abuse. When did this even become a thing? NO. NO. NO. HELL NO.
I do not care what you do to your body. But keep your ideas, talk, and hands off my child - until their 18. Thanks.

I wouldn’t trust CNN if they reported the sun would rise in the East.
America has one interest in Ukraine, for the fighting to end. The only thing that can hurt our country is an escalation of hostilities. Any politician of either party calling for escalation is NOT looking out for America.
The right is horrible at “messaging” and narrative building. The left is adept at lying. The Mississippi bill is an appalling travesty
There may be another side to the Missouri ectopic pregnancy story.
Brian Seitz, the author of the Missouri anti-abortion bill, stated on Mar 11 that "the law allows for procedures to deal with ectopic pregnancies, and this bill does nothing to curtail that LEGAL activity, as it can present a clear and present danger to the mother. This bill would NOT affect those legal procedures." and that "It does nothing to stop the legal use of current drugs. It is designed to curtail the illegal transportation, manufacture, sale, use, etc. of otherwise legal drugs."
...which isn't to say that the bill isn't objectionable in other ways, just that the ectopic discussion may be more nuanced than it originally appeared.
Bari, I part company with you on Larry Summer's comment as quoted. I totally agree with him. He's making the point that, in a globalized world, there is necessarily some shared pain if we boycott Russian products (which are mostly natural resources and weapons - a sad export legacy). In our case, and much more so in Europe's, the pain is higher energy and materials prices for the sake of reducing Putin's war-making revenues. While Ukrainians are getting killed for having the temerity to defend their country, it's the least we can do to support them.
Maybe once public schools have brought elementary school children’s reading/math proficiency scores back up to grade level, the teaching of gender identity taxonomies and other frivolous things can proceed as before. Luckily some states still test for reading/math skills and these failure is evident. They may not (yet) test for children’s basic gender discernment skills. Perhaps our children failing there too due to school closures?? The horror! The damage to their futures! LOL
But then, really, how many parents want the schools doing this stuff at all and would vote for it? The VA governors race made the FLA legislation a slam dunk and one doubts it will be limited to that state. One hopes it raises accountability for basic education, while assuring parents that time is not being wasted on frivolous gender life style instruction.
So now, I resent blacks, teachers, scientists, judges, politicians, any LBGTQRSTUV or whatever, democrats, liberals, progressives, Russians, etc., etc., and so on (to coin a phrase).
I don't understand why I keep reading that private schools have been so much more sensible on COVID policy than public schools. At my child's private school in the same state as our dear author, my child was at home for an entire year on Zoom, the school was even more cautious than both the state and the school district policies about lifting outdoor and indoor mask mandates and returning to classrooms, and they also raised their tuition twice despite it all. What is this world you speak of?
Hi Nellie, can you please review this to confirm if the bill re: ectopic pregnancies is actually about preventing use of drugs which chemically induce abortions on women with ectopic pregnancies because that can harm the woman? I could be misunderstanding this and would love some clarity:

People don't want political or social ideologues fucking with their kids. Period.

Ryan T. Anderson (@RyanTAnd) Tweeted:
This is false. When you read the bill in conjunction with the sections of existing code it modifies it’s clear it’s about penalties for things like mail order chemical abortions which are unsafe in situations like ectopic pregnancy.
