"But these universities have given no indication that they will end their profitable partnership with Qatar. " Actually, Texas A&M University recently announced plans to close our Doha campus by 2028 (cf. https://president.tamu.edu/messages/an-important-update-on-the-qatar-campus.html) .

While correlation does not always mean causation, it's interesting that all this money being pumped into American universities and the pro-palestine - anti-Israel demonstrations on those same campuses.

They own sports teams to wash their reputation. And they are donating to universities to do the same thing. And yet here are words almost never heard spoken by a sovereign democracy -- “our friends the Qataris.” US institutions should remember the old saying that when you have rattlesnakes as pets, they are likely to bite you, too.

If are in any doubt about the extent of the anti-semitic bias of students at the worlds top Universities. Well, it only took around 50 years of Marxists populating the top echelons of our elite universities to turn them to the most transactional institutions in the world. They make the New York Times look like amateurs. By the way, in case anyone is wondering, the Communists have ALWAYS been anti-Semitic. How could they not be? The existence of an oppressed and set upon minority that actually thrives as exceptional in almost every field is an existential threat to their rather fragile world-view. The exposure of this, finally, to the world at large is the ONLY silver lining for this entire horrid situation.

"...while maintaining our moral, intellectual, and financial integrity?”

We cannot "maintain" something that does not exist any more. We need to cleanse all institutions of Marxists before we can start talking about integrity. The Marxist idea of integrity is "ends justify the means" or "by all means necessary." Perhaps Joseph McCarthy's idea was not as wrong as his methods.

The question—as I see it—is how do we respond in a way that preserves our free and open society—including our higher education system with all its natural strengths—while maintaining our moral, intellectual, and financial integrity?”

Moral and intellectual integrity almost always clash with the financial. Maintaining our free and open society is part and parcel with our moral integrity. Add money to the mix and there is bound to be compromise. Convince me I'm wrong. Cheers!

Genuine question -- if the Hamas leadership is living it up in Qatar, why is the Israeli army bombing them out of gaza? Mid level people are in gaza? Why don’t the Israelis target these senior guys in Qatar? And is it not essential that they do so to end this? What’s the point of taking out the mid and lower level soldiers/terrorists?

Since these colleges have so much foreign money, they shouldn’t need federally guaranteed student loans, and should be able to lower tuition.
