I would have happily voted for Condoleeza Rice years ago. Still would.

No matter how bitter the left is over their spanking, they will always have one treasured memory: video of transgender queer icon Dylan "Bud Light" Mulvaney rollerblading through the White House as a special guest of Jan Psaki and Joe Biden. Nothing says dignity and respect for the 330,000,000 other Americans who received no such invitation. Dylan, we will miss you. Joe, good luck wherever your next chapter takes you. And try not to steal the china on the way out (see how I did that?).

The news media all jumped on board to savage Robert Kennedy Jr. with all sorts of bogus, biased articles, even ridiculous pieces about how a few members of his ginormous family didn’t support him. Obviously all those Pharma ad dollars influenced coverage. He was not given anything remotely resembling a fair shake. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party—always “preserving democracy”—sued to get him off ballots, refused him an opportunity to debate, and denied him Secret Service protection when he was already on the ballot in multiple states, so he had to spend millions for security. Nice crowd. Shadowy democratic operatives instead selected their candidate—who needs voters? The thing is Kennedy would have made a vastly superior candidate to Harris. He might have won. Instead he left the party. Way to go Dems!

Note the fixation by the legacy media on the issues of gender and race-which had zero to do with the outcome of the election, If this remains the mantra of the Democrats, they will remain in the political desert

My only beef is with the term “common people.” It’s reifying a pejorative even though I understand the point. There’s no such thing as the common people. We need to make helping America quit that notion a priority. Similar to how Free Black Thought says, “there’s no such thing as the black perspective, just black people with perspectives.” Substitute “black” for any other group and it’s a powerful statement.

That reminds me of the famous words East German writer Bertolt Brecht wrote about the Communist East German government after they chastised the general population for the uprising of 17 June 1953:

The Solution

After the uprising of the 17th June

The Secretary of the Writers Union

Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee

Stating that the people

Had forfeited the confidence of the government

And could win it back only

By redoubled efforts.

Would it not be easier

In that case for the government

To dissolve the people

And elect another?

I found a very subtle paragraph in this article that I consider extremely profound.

—“But you don't succeed in an election by calling the common people racist or sexist or stupid. You win by listening to them.”—

In an era where social media measures success as how many users click on one’s’ blabbering, maybe we need to rewrite the definition of success to measure the percentage of comments that actually add something intelligent and relevant to the conversation.

You needn’t dig too deep to understand that the ability to listen is a lost art. Unfortunately, the ability to listen is also a great equalizer when it comes to compromise, empathy, and understanding.

I had the opportunity to travel the world and see amazing things and cultures thanks to the US Navy, it was an amazing time and I wouldn't trade it for anything, even the crazy stuff with Dessert Storm, that said, I came home to the US and truly had a new appreciation for it. I always wanted to drive a truck, so I did for six years after the Navy and again, thanks to trips with the family, the Navy and driving a truck I have seen all 50 states as well as many of our territories, and it was all amazing and unlike anywhere else on earth. We are truly blessed here in the US, too many folks just do not have a true grasp of that... Keep up the great work, report honestly and truthful!!! America is great and always has been, nothing to be sorry about but everything to be proud of warts and all.

This is an expected post-pandemic response! The liberal meltdown on my Facebook feed has been insufferable. I hope Trump takes notes and he’s extremely cautious with how he handles the economy. I hope he becomes capable of serving someone other than just himself. Sorry, I just don’t trust narcissists. It honestly sucks that government is so influential in our economy at this point, too! Would love to see a return to free market principles. Wishful thinking!

Seems like your comment is a bit liberal meltdown.

Freddie deBoer’s take is not “brilliant.” It’s the ravings of a deranged Marxist.

Kinda says it all...

"Working Americans, when they voted for Democrats, were the backbone of America, saints of small-town virtue. When they didn’t, they were garbage and deplorables."

This says it all best from the liberal patriot. This is what happened.

Very good presentation today. Nice to see so many diverse insights and attitudes. And as usual the commentariat excels.

I read your list of MSM reactions, shortly after a similar list in the "notable and quotable" piece in today's WSJ. It's "identity, identity, Identity", straight down the line. As I am enjoying reading all of the election post mortems, I cant help but feel sad that the people who REALLY need to read them (and reflect) will not.

Hi Bari and Co – I know canvassers in Greentree PA , a suburb of Pittsburgh, who were told over and over again that they’d never vote for a woman. It’s not the only reason, but misogyny is not dead

Expand full comment

Seriously?

I highly doubt that anyone would not vote for a woman (and admit it)

Well, then the canvassers I talked to Tues night were all lying to me. That’s the only other explanation. I have no idea why they would do that.

Well they needed an excuse no? I guess they couldn’t tell what was really said, which must have been along the lines, she’s too stupid.

misogyny? Would you vote for Tulsi Gabbard? Did you vote for Nikki Haley. There are NUMEROUS well qualified women out there who I would vote for. Tulsi especially. She loves this country and our Constitution. She's well spoken. She's thoughtful and more importantly she's a leader. She destroyed Kamala in the first and only Democrat primary back in 2020. Kamala wasn't the right women for the job. Period. And everyone saw straight through her.

I I didn’t vote for Nikki Haley because I’m not a registered republican and because I’m not I can’t vote in a Republican primary in the state of Pennsylvania. But I think you’re missing my point . What I’m telling you is that in this suburb of Pittsburgh people who knocked on doors to discuss the election were told many many times by the people in those homes, they would never vote for a woman, and they would never vote for a black person. I’m not saying that’s everywhere. I’m not saying that’s everybody, but I am saying it’s real and it exists. I’m horrified than it does, but what can you do about it?
