This sort of mental distortion field simply does not infect the Right in the same way. You may disagree with the Right, but they are at least consistent about what they believe. That is why I think it is more possible to reach a rapprochement with them. You can find the bits you both agree on and reliably come together on that basis.
Also, people who are consistent can be reasoned with. You can change their minds because they have a mind that can be changed. It is possible. Not so with those infected with the mind virus.
