About 2 months ago, I listened to an Israeli injured on 10-7. In a matter-of-fact manor, he said he understood both Palestinians and Israelis were proxies in much larger wars.

China, Russia, N. Korea and Iran are all on one side. Israel and a healthy chunk of the west are on the other. I say a healthy chunk of the west because our collective knees have gotten very weak.

It's not a healthy chunk of the West. Canada has suspended weapons sales to Israel. Most of the EU favors the Palestinians over Israel. Interestingly, support for Israel is strongest in those countries that experienced the boot of Naziism and Communism, ie Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary.

I believe Iran's recent, direct attack on Israel was a test to see Biden's response & Israel's defense capabilities. A similar Iranian attack with a Hezbollah involvement could easily have overwhelmed Israeli & "coalition" defenses. Israel must resort to a preemptive strike on Iran & Hezbollah. There are those who will say that this would lead to a regional war as if there isn't a regional war. The Iranian hegemony will only continue & most likely escalate. Biden's acceptance of Iran's tit for tat is idiotic but then his whole approach to Iran is Obuma idiotic.

The Arab - Jew animosity goes back to Ishmael and Isaac. The proud Persians are fed up with the mullahs.

The best time to stop Iran's nuclear bomb in NOW!

All the calls for restraint demonstrate that it is still not clear that the West recognizes the medium to long term threat posed by jihadist almost nuclear Iran's constant attempts to destabilize Western democracies which was described by the Israeli ambassador to the UN last night.

Whether it was a masterstroke or a mistake will not become clear. People still argue over the causes of the fall of the Roman Empire. There'll eventually be a consensus of educated guesses, but that's not the same as clarity.

No serious observer should have had doubts about Iran's intentions, which should now be crystal clear to even the most obtuse members of the US administration. The remaining question is, what on Earth are Joe Biden's intentions? Does he even know? Beyond dithering and risk aversion, has he any philosophy?

For any American at this point to espouse anything but unequivocal and unqualified support for Israel is obscene, immoral. Equally important, if Biden actually believes that by waiving sanctions on Iran and repeatedly paying off the Mullahs he will avoid "wider conflict in the region," he is as foolish, and doomed to as painful a disappointment, as Neville Chamberlain was in 1938. Peace in our time! Yeah, right!

Of course, there is another possibility, one which is much worse. And that is that Biden, or at least whoever is actually in charge, (Obama? Rice? Jarratt?) shares Iran's hatred of Jews, of America, of Western civilization, and is aiding and abetting the effort to establish an Islamist caliphate across not just the Middle East but the entire world.

It is uncanny that Iran is the country, once called Persia, where the story of Queen Esther thwarting plans to exterminate the Jews occurred. Each period, it seems, has its own Haman (note the name similarity in the name Khamenei). The Jews were allowed to fight for their lives then, as now. But it took persuasion to get that permission, as it does now.

Well, this was a night to remember. For me, as an Israeli that lives outside of Israel since 2007- it brought flashbacks from the Gulf War. Only then there weren't defence systems.

I think that every single person with a sane mind knows and understands that Iran is the real issue here. Last night was from one hand a dangerous escalation - but it brought with it a few things. First- who would have thought that Jordan and Saudi Arabia would work with Israel against others. Which makes it even more important to continue the cooperation with friendly countries. And the second- it turned the tide against Israel. and as we know- it won't last more than a few days- so a good leader (which isn't BB) needs to take this opportunity and make the best of it. I'm not holding my breath from any condemnation from the UN.

Irans nefarious purpose has been evident for half a century. It has been clear that Iran under the mullahs is a force for evil ever since the attack on the US Embassy in Teheran in 1979. Dozens of US embassy personnel were taken hostage and held for 400 some days in order to weaken American resolve. Then as now, the Iran regime used others as a proxy, namely "Iranian students". Then as now, hostages were used to bargain. Then as now, America mistakenly made hostage rescue paramount over brute military force, playing into the strategy of the terrorists. Then as now, the US was led by a President Interested in appeasement rather than punishment.

Imagine how many people who would be alive still if Iran hadn't fallen into theocracy in 1979. The theocrats themselves made Iran what it is, but there is plenty of blame to go around for allowing this to happen, including that born by President Jimmy Carter. Iran was an ally before 1979, and no worse than many of our other allies, including Hussein in Iraq. President Ford watched as our South Vietnamese ally fell in 1975, and President Carter watched on as Iran fell in 1979. Surely, the Israelis know that their American 'ally' has a long history of walking away and leaving chaos in our wake.
