I really didn't know a president could just rename things: gulfs, mountains, sounds like pretty much anything. Of course the next D president will just undo it, but it feels like there should be a process for getting names changed.
Forget for a moment that his name is Trump, America's president is reasonable in his ask of Columbia and truly American in his response to Columbia's denial of his request. Power is irrelevant if you prove unwilling to exercise it. The America that guarded the security of the free world for eighty years may be back.
I believe academia “led the way” rather than “went along” with the errors Gurri outlines. The education “lobby” may be the most powerful influencers in the U. S. since the late 1960s.
(copied from a friend's facebook page) So...all the psycho tech bros surrounding Trump on inauguration day made him invest 500 billion in scammy software (trained illegally on human output) and earth destroying data centers, (instead of investing in public services), and China released an open source version which is 96% more efficient whilst under US chip sanctions for less than $6 million. I'd say that's a bit of a setback for the MAGA agenda, what does the panel think?
If we really want and need Greenland, we need to woo the Danes, not threaten them. I thought playing hardball with Colombia was the right thing to do, but the Greenland situation should be handled much more diplomatically, with carrots, not sticks. Surely a mutually-beneficial solution can be found.
Rebecca, I read your comment as if you believe we (USA) should treat 'white' countries better than 'non-white' countries. Please tell me I'm wrong about you.
Barry, thank you for allowing me to clarify my position. Colombia refused to accept the return of its citizens who broke the law in our country. Greenland has done nothing to harm us and if I recall, their people are almost exclusively Inuit, which surely means non-white.
Why would you immediately jump to a race-based conclusion? Can you see that the racial lens is such a harmful and inadequate way to view the world and its people?
I wonder how much of that increase in housing costs is driven by AirBNB, and similar short term rental platforms. Presumably a lot of those homes are owned by investors and there is now a whole class of people who spend much of the year going from one short term rental to next while still owning their own home. I know someone who lives in Seattle but spends most of her time in the winter either in Rocky Mountain ski resort destinations or Palm Springs, etc. enjoying the remote work/play lifestyle.

This is the second time I've seen TFP use the portmanteau "libtards". Do I have to explain how offensive that term is? Come on!
But is perfectly descriptive of those to whom it applies.
As offensive to one side as the IQ of the libtards to the other.
Add to the cost of home ownership, the cost of homeowner’s insurance, which is growing to prohibitive and extortionate levels.

Colombia. Otherwise, agreed.

The “panel” thinks China was working on this during the dead guy’s administration. You might say right under their noses.
'Latinos for Trump" LOL!!!!

The wife is from Venezuela and has been here for 'a few years', yet it is their 11th anniversary this Friday.
She has 'a court date' set, but do not all 'caught' migrants get a court date?
Another attack on Free Speech

Colombia: Were not taking shackled people on military flights. Transport them with dignity.
Trump: Trade war!
Colombia: Ok.
Trump: Alright no shackles, etc.
Colombia: Good. Now, was that so hard?
Trump: They gave in!!
Colombian President: OK, ok, never mind and I will send my presidential aircraft right away to get our reprobates, I mean valued citizens.
Yeah...that's what happened...sent his personal presidential plane. LOL.
Hope no Tuskegee Airmen are flying the plane. That's DEI ;)
I'm very, very skeptical of Trump. But reading about this Colombia business is like a breath of fresh air. Credit where credit is due.
A minor issue in the greater scheme of things, but FWIW, having Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park seems to strike a good balance.
Market has been doing great, guys.
Small temp. price to pay for safer streets don't you think?
Lol. Yeah, "temporary." ;)
Gonna be a lot of job openings for you guys.

It won't be the Danes' call soon. Greenland is on track to exercise their right to full independence. They will need a security partner.
