Cheatle did exactly what she was supposed to do. Unfortunately for her and the Swamp, the kid failed. Ms Cheatle is lucky. When Stalin's henchmen failed to accomplish their assignments, they were shot. She resigned. Probably end up with some cushy job somewhere to keep her quiet. Although I wouldn't want to fly on any commercial flight she was on. At least not until after the November elections.

I just can't tell if Cheatle misunderstood what the hearing was for, or if she were protecting the investigation. What did she think they were going to ask her? Did she literally not know the answers or was she taking one for the team? If it's the former, then WOW, just WOW. The latter? I reserve judgment.

Interesting picture choice. It makes Trump look like an old man who got his ass kicked in a bar fight.

Ever just missed being killed? Kind of shakes one up. Did your boyfriend ever kick your ass when he told you you weren't hot anymore?

I was really put off by the hyena pack mobbing of Cheatle by Congress. There's zero excuse for such demeaning language as "You're full of sh**."

Cheatle served for 27 years in the Secret Service ("with distinction") before working in the private sector then returning as director. Circumstances don't mean that she should not have been accorded basic respect.

Those who used cheap shots (like she should go back to guarding Doritos - a silly comment based on an X joke), are part of the problem of our corrosive politics.

Congress has apparently forgotten the famous survey that found Americans have a more favorable view of cockroaches than they do of Congress. That's you Congress: worse than cockroaches.

As we all know, any more, these hearings are designed for TV sound bites and the preening and posing of MOCs follows suit. I've long been disgusted with the grilling of well-known figures like Zuckerberg etc. The person being question is treated like a hostage. It's Kabuki theater.

I doubt 98% of MoCs could stand up under the hyena treatment. So maybe they should all be grilled in similar fashion. Clearing out 98% of these self-serving liars, via mass resignations, could provide a fresh start.

Both the D's and the R's united to condemn Cheatle and call for her resignation. Video footage of the hearing showed that the Democrats were just as savage as the Republicans.

Cheatle managed to unify both sides of the aisle. In the current day that's a pretty impressive achievement.

Spot on and Bravo on the nonsense comments. There is a case to be made to remove cameras from Congress. This is not the CSPAN of the 1980's. Time for a RE-THINK. As for Cheatle, you and I know that she would NEVER have been picked if she were not a female. NEVER. That said, she should have fallen on her sword and let the blood flow. At least she would have left in Honor rather than Disgrace.

One thing for sure, a LEADER does not say "WE FAILED".

Good riddance. Too bad we can't cancel this DEI TECHNOCRATS pension checks. She gives chromosomes a bad name...

Quitting with full benefits unchanged does not seem right...

I am not one for conspiracy theories but I watched the hearing and I have to say it appeared like Cheatle was hiding something the way she came off, very defiant and despite being the director of the Secret Service, had no answers what-so-ever. The whole thing is simply bizarre. What is even more curious is how up until the hearing, Cheatle was committed to staying on board as director of the Secret Service and was not being swayed to resign when asked too but after the hearing she resigned. Again very bizarre. Lastly, I wish someone would of followed up to Cheatle's response to the roof "not being sterile." Like what does that even mean. I believe the truth is going to be somewhere in between complete incompetence and dereliction of duty because of who the candidate was, they were assigned to protect...Trump who I would think probably did not like the man.

Ranking member Raskin and quite a few other Dems in the hearing demonstrated utter ignorance of firearms with their rhetorical questions about the AR-15.

President Trump is fortunate that the shooter used an AR-15. It is a small caliber rifle. If he had used the same caliber as the sharpshooter that killed him - a high powered caliber such as .308, 6.5 or the like - the bullet that hit Trump in the ear absolutely would have killed him. Several times larger bullet, traveling much faster...

One question that was not asked and I have yet to hear ask anywhere: why did the sharpshooters on the more sloped roofs wait several seconds (apparently 16 seconds) to kill Crooks and let him get off several shots before a single shot killed him? For that matter, they had to have seen him on the roof with a rifle. They could have killed him at least 2 minutes before he started shooting.

And if they had to get permission prior to Crooks shooting, then they had to have notified the Agent in Charge of the THREAT, not suspicious person.

Reminds me a bit of 9/11. I remember it well, was glued to the media as the whole event played out (online, CNN was pretty much the only online mainstream news at that time). Within two hours after the hijackings, the government has released to the news media the names and photographs of the hijackers of all four planes - Pittsburgh, the Pentagon, and the two that hit the WTC. Two hours! Almost as if they knew in advance who these guys were. Just saying.

I initially thought she didn’t resign in an honorable decision to face the music at a hearing rather than have her juniors be given the proverbial cigarette and blindfold. But, as it turned out, she was at the hearing for the sole purpose of obfuscating. Her obstruction and arrogance only threw gasoline on the conspiracy fire.

After some facts have come out and her non answers, I am left with only two conclusions. Either the USSS is the most amateurish protection service currently in business or this assassination opportunity was intentional.

The best news is that the American people, through the lens of the camera were able to see the incompetence or the directed behavior of actions that day. We didn't need Cheatle to tell us what went wrong, we need Cheatle to tell us who was involved. Who directed the AGR building regional sniper team to abandon their post and to search for the threat. There appears to be more here than meets the eye. Two shooters, one with a gun... the other in orders given...

She was there long enough to destroy evidence.

In all fairness to Cheatle, she was the best person to lead the Secret Service at that time because so many people in Washington were/are hoping that an assassination attempt against Trump might succeed. Those same people will now tell us that Kamala Harris is the best person to be president of the United States because they will use her complete incompetence and ignorance for their own benefit... all the while knowing that she is a pig in a pantsuit...

And the Free Press will be there "courageously" reporting the fall of Rome and looking to rosin their bows and tune their fiddles...

She seems to have the credentials and experience for me to doubt she is a DEI hire. However, right after the incident, Biden should have told her to resign or be fired. The leader who created the mess should not be the one to fix it. Look at Boeing.

Biden had no idea who she was. Lester Holt interviewed Biden about the event, and Biden referred to the Secret Service director as "he" (Google it). Holt picked up on that and immediately referred to her as "she", to give Joe the hint he needed. Joe is old school, like me. He's still working with just two genders, not 128. So he took the hint. Way to go, Lester!
