I understand the emotions but don’t panic. Harris is not fit to lead a scout group. There is no way this is her last gaffe. The Democratic Party has taken the first steps to extinction and will wilt under the pressure it has brought upon itself.

It’s not just Harris. Pelosi’s statement, and the absence of about half the Democratic members, indicates that the Democratic Party now has a big problem with Israel. Not long ago it was just the left/progressive wing of the party. No more.

The democrats are acting like recalcitrant children holding grudges because the Obama doctrine of Chamberlain-like appeasement to Iran was an existential threat to Israel. How has appeasement worked out? But they still want to hold a grudge even thought they are dead wrong on the issue? The optics of Kamala meeting with a sorority instead of doing her present job to preside over the Senate shows a tone deafness that defies logic. This is so disrespectful to our only true reliable ally in the region. Our Arab allies in the region all fund terrorists and we give them military support to defend themselves against which country?

Kamala just failed her first foreign policy leadership test. If we cannot stand with our essential ally how are the rest of our allies supposed to trust us?

«  The VP missed an important opportunity to show Americans where she stands on Israel.«

I remember a time when a close relative of mine refused an invitation to my wedding because of a prior commitment. After all, she had a podiatrist appointment.

Message received.

No, I think Harris took this opportunity to show America EXACTLY where she stands on Israel.

Message received.

I thought the Free Press was to fill a void of reason among two yahoo extremes--but this and many comments seem blind. Harris did what she should have done, politically, and probably morally: she said what even staunch Israeli defenders like me can acknowledge. The protestors are fools or in some cases evil; Israel has every right to destroy Hamas; and it is not good when innocent people die, even if it is necessary given the circumstances. Anything else and you need to look at yourself.

it is war innocent people die , how many innocent died when the US carpet bombed Germany Japan and Vietnam ? war is ugly end of story

I'm glad she lacks subtlety.

Maybe we'll be spared 4 - 8 years of this imbecile....

I believe it is excruciatingly clear where Kamala stands on Israel.

What is not clear is where she stands overall.

Sorry, Eli. This is not an intellectually honest piece. 1. VP Harris showed Americans and the world EXACTLY where she and the Democratic Party stand on Israel. You know this, and anyone paying a bit of attention knows it. You do not skip a major address to Congress (along with half of your caucus, by the way - HALF) to attend a sorority party in Indiana unless you intend to send a loud, clear message. A first-year international relations major would realize this. 2. "Some vandals" did not just happen to "replace" American flags with Palestinian flags. This was part and parcel of the protest: violent anti-Semites (look at the videos and the atrocious symbols the protestors used) burning American flags. I love the Free Press (they may just be saving journalism and democracy along with it), but this piece is not up to their standards. There are many thoughtful arguments for and against Israel's prosecution of the war in Gaza, and for and against Netanyahu's leadership, but this piece is pure propaganda.

Exactly. Look at how people say that Bibi sent a message to Chuckaroo by not even shaking his hand, and only nodding at him.

It shocks me that this is who 300 million people (or, more exactly, the Democrat party members among them) can come up with to be their candidate to lead what, while I was growing up, was the greatest ever democracy. What is "great" about Kamala? What is leaderr-of-the-free-world worthy about Kamala? What makes her more suitable presidential material than the person ahead of me in the line at the supermarket besides ambition and lack of scruples (which may characterize that anonymous shopper as well...). The Dems are running a shallow, incompetent (I remember the southern border, gaslighters) giggling Barbie doll of color for president, to whom not being photographed behind Netanyahu as he spoke of the really crticial issues that face Western civilization, and showed us some of the heroes of the post Oct 7th world,, was the only item of importance on her agenda. God, bless America - please.

When it became clear that Biden was headed for a defeat, taking House and Senate races down with him, someone else was needed. No Democrat with any real chance wanted to take the helm as the ship heads for the rocks. Better to wait for 2028. So we got Kamala, who has no chance of winning the nomination in an actual primary run (see 2020). Kamala has nothing to lose politically and will get a nice TV/book deal after she loses this election.

Kamala showed exactly where she stands on Israel!

Her silence is more deafening than her cackling.

She did show where she stands. Where else would she?

That's why she's now to be known as the kamalahole, as she continually goes down the kamalahole....where else has she gone down to get a head?

Split her new name right down the middle.

It's almost impossible to come up with a worse and more vapid candidate than kamalahole, either for Israel or America, therefore the new descriptive name that fits her to an A!

She stands with the demonstrators, but wishes they would keep the spray paint and bear spray in mom's garage, and that there could be some Jewish counter protestors so she could also denounce Islamophobia whatever that is. Basically, she is ready for an armistice in place.

It's not as if she hadn't already staked out a position months ago: "If there are not changes to their approach, it's very likely we will change our approach."

Kamala and the Democrats who boycotted Bibi's speech continue to reveal themselves. Party ahead of country.

Let’s not forget, those that did not attend are the Hamas wing of the party. It is like 1939 again. History will once again prove that all these people and the antisemites they stand with were dead wrong and on the wrong side.
