I think we should start doing toxicology reports on rape "victims."

geez, even at thefp it's possible for one idiotic troll to ruin the whole comments section...

Even if the left believes this was murder, it's amazing to me that they don't see it as a totally losing issue, over and over. The majority of people want more Daniel Pennys, not more Jordan Neelys. At least Kamala waffles pathetically. Most of the left just dives in head first.

Very well done! Have you offered this to the networks?

What if your wife or daughter was on that train? Its not like people had been getting assaulted on the NYC (and other cities) subway during this time. If its my wife and daughter on that train, it would be me on trial. And if I'm on that jury, Penny walks no question.

Oh, did you miss the fact that he was" accosted" and Goetz was not? So, you're not making the point you intended to :)

You're a Goetz and Penny supporter. Not surprising. Two people who acted without any assault accosting taking place

"This is no longer fun..." Yes, getting owned usually isn't, but that is a very self-aggrandizing way of bowing out. ;)

If Daniel Penny was black, what would have happened? He would have probably been declared a hero. The police would have taken statements and that would have been the end of it.

Too bad we don’t have cell phone video of the situation prior to Penney’s actions.

Another great reason to subscribe to The Free Press. Phenomenal reporting.

Locked in a subway car with a man who is ready to die or go to jail -- clearly wanting to do harm. How scary that must have been!

I wonder what people would think if Neely was white?

Expand full comment

Are you kidding? A crazed white man is just as dangerous as a crazed black man. Enough of the race BS.

Expand full comment

My point is -- would it have been news worthy or picked up by AOC if Neely was white? I agree any crazed criminal of any race or culture is scary but what the press and advocates focus on these days is the color of one's skin and what will get more groups outraged.

I think I heard the police arrive and actually ask who was black or white….

To help clarify this question: "I wonder what people would think of Penny's actions, had Neely been white?"

Just flat out , excellent reporting.

Isn't it possible to detain someone, especially with 3+ strong men in the train car, without having them in a choke hold? I don't understand why a choke hold is always used in these situations when they so often lead to death.

Expand full comment

I wondered that too. Why didn’t the other people help?

Control the head and you control the body (usually).

Expand full comment

1) yes it is possible, 2) it is more difficult than you can guess, and 3) the correct application of a carotid restraint does not “choke.” Without comment on whether Perry appropriately reacted or perceived a loss of consciousness, I’m not aware of the need to collect the dead bodies of thousands of people each year who are on the receiving end of such restraints every year in gym, military, and police academy settings.

Because none of the other men did anything, and a choke hold was the only way for a single person to restrain a dangerous man intent on doing harm. They should give Daniel Penny a meddle.

As I said before, people who don't ride urban mass transportation don't have the empathy required to comment intelligently on this topic. There have been several murders in the past year alone on NYC trains and platforms, but even that's not enough to understand what it's like to be trapped in a confined space and be within one second of losing your life. The comments below prove it.

The deceased shouted to everyone that he didn't care what happened to him. I take him at his word. He said he didn't care if he went to prison. I take him at his word. He threatened passengers. I take him at his word. That's not "acting erratically." One thing I do know, if he had murdered someone on that train, T-1000 would see it on the news and not give it a second thought.

Legally, Neely's words constitute assault.

Expand full comment

Nah. You don't support both.

The instructions are fascinating. Really. I think it is "reasonable" for me to jump/choke out anyone acting erratically on a subway train.
