I live in Vancouver, WA where a ballot box was hit with an incendiary device. My husband and I signed up to do a few 8 hour shifts. We are doing our 2nd stakeout tonight from 11pm -7am and because the clocks go back an hour tonight we get to sit in our car an extra hour. Lucky us.

As a Canadian watching from the outside… what is sad is that the whole world seems to ignore the fact that Tony was trying to bring attention to the fact that there is a massive problem with garbage in our oceans and that Puerto Ricans wake up daily to plastic bottles and bags on their beautiful beaches… once again the media uses it as a distraction from the real issues…

Oh c'mon. If those ballot box explosives had said "Make America Great Again" would you uncritically believe the right had done it?

If I was a ballot box bomber (please note, FBI agents reading this, I have *never* been to Oregon or Washington state!) I'd slap the other team's stickers all over the bombs.

TFP is the anti-Semitic clearing house. Good to get them all out in the open.

Listening to the Chopin. Lovely!

As always. TFP is in the tank for The Donald, famously Israel’s “Messiah” when it amplifies Biden’s hapless, senile gaffe, instead of ignoring it as the capstone of a life of foot-in-mouth disease of a totally irrelevant has-been.

Casey Flores said it best. Trump doesn’t fit into any ideological box. He was supportive of same sex marriage long before Clinton, Obama or Biden. He has been hammering unfair trade deals since the eighties. Ditto corporate inversion, illegal immigration and has always been America first. Nobody was angrier about Clinton’s NAFTA than the Democrats and trade unions. Particularly Pat Moynihan, Scoop Jackson , Cesar Chavez and drumroll, Chuck Schumer. Nobody warned of the deleterious effects building up NATO would bring about than Pat Moynihan, Scoop Jackson, Alexander Haig and Barry Goldwater. And then Clinton broke the with the Treaty, followed by Bush, Obama and Biden. Now we’re on the precipice of WWIII. These weren’t ideological musings, but common sense. There’s an irony in the switch up of Republicans for Kamala and Democrats For Trump. The “ Republicans” for Kamala are the warhawks in bed with the corporate multinationals, military industrial complex , open borders, Muslim Brotherhood antisemitism and dirty money at the expense of America’s security and so is the current Democrat party. The Democrats for Trump are the old school who are sick of the wars, open borders, corporate multinational monopolism, antisemitism, hyper-regulation and corruption.

Credit to TFP for this take on the garbage controversy 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Hinchcliffe was referring to literal garbage - Puerto Rico has a serious waste disposal problem - not to the people or the territory. Still, not a very wise move, since it was so easily misconstrued.

Thanks for posting the clip. I honestly can’t imagine hearing that any way other than, “the only garbage out there is his supporter’s [garbage].” The sentence structure is plain as day.

I agree. This article is doing the very thing that the FP often accuses the mainstream media of, which is taking quotes out of context to paint a candidate in a bad light. While I tend to agree that the mainstream media is in the tank for one candidate, the linked Washington Post article is convincing: Given the full context it's clear that Biden was not referring to Trump supporters in his "garbage" remark.

The legacy media has let us down too many times to be trusted over too many years. My rule of thumb since COVID is - whatever they say - I do the exact opposite. It has served me well.

Trump says offensive things daily and no one seems to care on this site. Biden says one thing off color and the ya’ll are hysterical. For all his flaws Biden always is positive towards both sides of the aisle. That’s why he is so effective at getting major legislation done. Republicans actual like the guy.

So y’all need to get a grip. He is not running for president anymore. But Trump and his foul mouth still is.

"These are the same outlets that turned an obscure comedian’s nasty joke about Puerto Rico being “garbage” into a days-long national news cycle."

Yes, an "obscure comedian" doing an opening act before the former President/current Republican nominee's major political rally at the closing of the campaign, selected and vetted by the Trump campaign because he's apparently representative of the "tone" and "brand" they want to run their campaign on - Trump repeatedly referring to "the left" (and no, he is not making careful distinctions between politicians and their voters) as "vermin" "the enemy within" etc raises barely a comment here - yeah you're not playing any sides here right ;p

The right wing bias here is becoming impossible to ignore and excuse anymore - you're even being called out by fellow "heterodox" liberals like Matt Ygleasias and Jesse Singal. The only reason to stick around at this point if there's a Trump win to witness the reactions to getting what you've worked so hard to earn. No crying and there certainly won't be much room to gin up outrage over what campus politics if it happens as advertised, and you won't be able to pretend you didn't see it, even if you declined to inspect or report on it.

I had so much hope when I discover The Free Times. I immediately became a subscriber. I am now disappointed. What happened? The left leaning and the occasional embracing of the progressives is not what I thought The Free Times would be.

You seem invested in the more sensational reading of Biden's "garbage" comment. Otherwise, you'd have given at least a slightly fuller quotation:

"The only garbage I see floating out there is his [supporter’s/supporters] — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American."

Your "Right. Sure" does a strenuous piece of work in the cause of waving us away from the "supporter's" version. Biden's sentence turns into a mess, but it does seem likely that he was referring to the comedian's remark.

Please, TFP, don't replace the investments of the MSM with investments of your own.
