"What’s the upshot of all of this? Well, normal conservative—dare we say, even, good—ideas are labeled “MAGA.” That’s good for absolutely no one."

Bingo! That's why many of us independent centrist & Republican voters have opposed Trump since 2015. Because Trump made it plain starting with his ride down the escalator that it's Personality first and Principles (if any) second.

"Only I can fix it," is something you should never hear from a candidate for the Presidency. And certainly never hear from the candidate of a notionally conservative party.

The Republican party now revolves around the Great & Powerful Trump, with the consequence that its principles and ideals have been redefined and besmirched by him.

I don't ever recall Trump saying "only I can fix it." Can you please offer evidence?

Trump's message is Make AMERICA Great Again, but people who dislike him are very quick to twist words.

1. Perhaps you didn't recognize because I misquoted him. My mistake!

If you'll do a web search for "I alone can fix it" you'll hundreds of hits to confirm it. (Warning: most hits will be for a book with that title, which came from the Trump quote.)

Here's a quote from The Atlantic: "I am your voice," said Trump. "I alone can fix it. I will restore law and order." See https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/07/trump-rnc-speech-alone-fix-it/492557/

2. I've heard Trump's nonsensical message about somehow making an already great county great "again." You don't *actually* believe that politicians' mottos mean anything, do you?

3. Your slur on people who dislike Trump, that they're "very quick to twist words," was uncalled for. It's not worth a response. Just keep on telling yourself, "Everyone who dislikes Trump is an idiot (or moron or 'loser' or whatever, dude)."

4. I notice that you only told me about your poor memory. What you *didn't* do is defend Trump against my claim that he's redefined and besmirched traditional conservative values. Care to take a stab at that one?
