Would the audiotapes really add any more to the knowledge set? Biden is old, feeble and suffering from dementia. I can't imagine there is anything else to learn. Further, do we need another datapoint on democratic shenanigans? (Garland games) Nothing new hear either. Their just following the tried and true script that always sees them through with no accountability. Just be thankful Garland didn't get on SCOTUS.

The fact that the transcript is already in the public sphere is why there is no logical or reasonable argument to withhold the actual recordings.

But honestly, there should be no doubt what we would hear if we get to listen to them. The fact that they’re trying so hard to withhold them (and making such ludicrous arguments in doing so) mean that Biden must have sounded exactly as we thought: weak, old, confused, “anyways”.

I am more curious about the side mention of the court ruling about the trump special prosecutor in the documents case. Have the duties and actions of ALL special prosecutors been illegally vested in the past, or did that trump appointed judge make a brain-cramp of a judicial activism ruling?

Ms. Van Susteren claims to speak "as a former criminal defense attorney" but her argument is completely irrelevant to any criminal case (the case is closed, no charges filed).

She is speaking as a political advocate, trying to dig up dirt that can be edited and used in a campaign, with more punch than the written record, which is adequate for justice purposes. For exactly this reason, voluntary cooperation with the investigators should be disclosed in a way that is less helpful to political opposition, to avoid "chilling" executive participation in judicial investigations.

I feel like a broken record. I want to know: who is really running the country?

This is all misdirection, getting the masses to look for some smoking gun that 'proves' their point - whether against or in support of Biden.

The 'smoking gun' is Biden. It's right there in everyone's faces, every hour of every day; everyone sees that he is no longer capable of functioning as a 24/7 president. Everyone.

The sad fact is that the news and opinion media are trying to stretch this out for ad revenue, so they play some weird form of avoidance of the real question(s): who, exactly, is running the country and why has Biden not been removed?

Agree 100% with your point. Now that the mainstream Dems and Dem leadership have agreed that JRB has to go, it's time to ask the question "who is/was running the country?" Was it ever JRB? Was there a medical event that created an inflection point? I know at some point this will get leaked and books will be written.

Biden’s handlers and allies in the media insist that he’s “sharp as a tack” behind closed doors. Releasing the audio of the interview would be a great opportunity to demonstrate this. His campaign headquarters (Morning Joe on MSNBC) should be thrilled to air it in its entirety.

“create an audio deepfake in which a fake voice of President Biden can be programmed to say anything that the creator of the deepfake wishes.”

President Biden's corpus of public utterances are more than enough to train a voice simulacrum.

Back in 1974, the Supreme Court ruled that the original Nixon tapes had to be released. Nixon resigned about a week later.

-----> For his candor, Hur was excoriated by many of the president’s supporters as well as members of the media and political pundits.

Oh Greta! Members of the media and political pundits are Biden's supports.

I don't understand how there can be a waiver of the purported privilege for the written (edited I now find out) transcript but not the audio. I'm not aware that there was a limited or conditional waiver for the transcript to allow, now, for the assertion of the privilege with reference to the audio. Please chime in if you have knowledge on this. Thanks.

“In this matter, the attorney general is risking crossing the line into acting as the president’s personal attorney and advocate, rather than executing his proper role as the legal representative of the American people.” It took this to make you realize the nonsense occurring at DOJ? Really?

I formerly typed transcripts of court proceedings. I added every single syllable. Every um, uh, uh-huh, etc. It is unforgivable that they would edit those out.

I wonder why no video has been made. Why just audiotapes?

And yes, "the nonverbals" matter even more than the actual words. Especially in a matter that hinges on the perception of one's cognitive abilities and mental acuity.

Why, Greta, would we need to hear the tape when EVERYONE assured us he was "sharp as a tack", very sharp, focused, engaged, competent, alert, in charge, substantive, as able as ever, tough, smart, on his game, stronger, younger more energetic... Matt Orfalea, as referenced by Matt Taibbi put the matter to rest here: https://youtu.be/1kKUye23KBQ. For you to be correct every media and political personality to the left of Fox News has been gaslighting us.

Oh ye of little faith!

We were promised that this administration would be, "the most transparent administration in history."

Now they have been held in contempt of Congress for hiding Joe Biden's mental state.
