I'm a boomer (77) who questions the intellect of Gen Z. But reading last year's winning essays was strong evidence that there are some very intelligent and articulate young people in America. I'm anxious to read the submissions of this year's winners.

Bob, I am almost your age and share your evaluation of todayтАЩs younger generation.

I also understand the brainwashing they have experienced. My oldest grandchild is now 20. I used to take a day off each week to spend with her, as well as to take her to тАШenrichmentтАЩ or early learning classes on weekends. Watching the learning sessions and listening to her describe the world made me want to vomit. It was all about climate change scaring children to believe the planet would explode is they did not use the correct product or get electricity from wind turbines.

Esoteric subjects such as race, gender and climate have taken the time traditionally spent on literacy and thinking. TodayтАЩs graduates might have an idea of describing facts, butfail miserable at using higher order skills such as analysis and synthesis.
