I love reading The Free Press, but I must comment not only on what you say (with which I nearly always agree) but also on how you say it. It's logically impossible for Rupa to be "one of the only people." You mean she's ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE.
Rupa, I'm sure you don't read these but I'm compelled to let you know how valuable your work is. When I learned that Bari connected with you I actually gave a cheer. Two favourites combined forces. I'm from the west (AB/BC) and am now in Ontario. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
While I object to authoritarianism, anarchy is not a choice. When one individual intends to make another feel so threatened that they are not free to speak, pray, or pursue their livelihood, that is not a free or fair society. There are laws and precedent to maintain balance of power among individuals’ rights to preempt either anarchy or authoritarianism. Immigrants come here for refuge from both.
Great job by Rupa and The Free Press! Keep up the great work. This is why I’ve been a happy subscriber since day 1 and encourage others to subscribe as well...
As a fellow Canadian I applaud Rupa! Every single Canadian needs to watch this video. We need to get Trudeau and his government out and undo/repeal all the damage they've done to our (formerly) free country.
But will it do any good. The progressives always think they know what is best for us. What's best for us is for them to go down to defeat so they will stop playing the salami game, slice by slice, taking away our liberties before we know it.
I applaud Rupa for her courage, and remind those who are basking in smug superiority because the idiocy is coming from the left this time, that pride goeth before a fall. Those who locate in Democrats a unique susceptibility to mob thinking and authoritarianism are being intellectually duplicitous, at best.
Let's all commit to freedom of speech for thee, as well as me. That means freedom for the speech we hate, or it means nothing. Not freedom for speech leading violence or intimidation, as Trump's so often is. But freedom for any ideas not advocating violence or intimidation, even if we hate the idea ifself. The great Nat Hentoff, one of the best Jews America ever produced, was the gold standard on this. For example no suppression of speech supporting Zionism or opposing it either. Both antisemitic and Islamophobic speech are fully protected. Just not physical violence or threats of violence.
Can TFP spend 2024 on the theme of illiberalism and report on all of its different facets? You've covered it in schools, gender, medicine, DEI, etc. Can TFP be even more strategic and look at all the ways illiberalism plays out in every sector of life?

How is it that Schultz is still a CONGRESSWOMAN? Unbelievable!
Troubling indeed!

Bravo and thank you, Ms. Subramanya!

wonder how long it will take you to delete this last comment
Speaking of free speech why do my comments continually seem to disappear when I take issue with and article....

Liberalism evolved into totalitarianism.
