I have loved being able to simply post my comments here without going through the "ivy league college application/elite country club vetting that getting a letter published in the NY TIMES is and I have loved that the comments sections truly completes TFP in way that no other newspaper in my lifetime ever has. Happy New Year everyone - despite the best efforts of our political class.

The Free Press is far from perfect, but it is really, really good. Even if the articles slant one way, the comments generally challenge that. And most who comment are respectful and make good points. Happy New Year everyone.

Congratulations! I almost canceled my subscription when Nellie made me angry once. Ok, more than once.

But there isn't a better, more thoughtful comment section anywhere on the internet, in my opinion! So The Free Press truly is about working together.

I've been a fan since you left the Times and all I can say is that I am so happy for your success.

But our early subscribers didn’t sign up when we had any of that. They believed deeply in the mission

Yep. Was an early subscriber because I knew you were going to make the NYT regret driving you out. Congratulations!

The Uri Berliner story is the one that made me aware of The Free Press, and a subscriber. Then I started listening to Honestly and laughing every Friday at TGIF. I love what you guys are doing---keep it up!

Thank you, Ms. Weiss. Both the 'story' of you and FP and the stories and commmentaries published here are an inspiration. And...you and yours display a sweet ironic sense of humor throughout, which is refreshing imho.

You are a blessing to your world, in case nobody mentions it on the difficult days. Keep on keeping on.

Been here since the beginning, very early Common Sense days. It gave me hope in a dark season of little common sense and rampant censorship. I’ve disagreed with many of the authors and editors at times, but will continue to support TFP and their stellar work, being challenged is good for all of us.

Keep shining a light on the lies Bari and team and always seek truth. You will not fail.

Huge Thank You and CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎉🍾

Congrats on your great success! It has been a real blessing to those of us looking for true journalism. I was a bit surprised by people asking to see more right leaning reporters. I am right leaning, adjacent shall we say, and I have grown attached to TFP precisely because I trust they are seeking truth is their stories. And not trying to prop up one political viewpoint or the other. Keep up the great work Bari and team!! We love you guys!!

I happened on one of Douglas Murray's Things Worth Remembering and I was hooked - subscribed that day. I'm a fan of the whole contraption, but Murray's series drew me in.

You should send one of those good looking grey hats with the white stitching to the first million as a thank you. That might seem extravagant and cripplingly expensive, but I've given gifts before and found it most gratifying.

Thanks for the reading stuff.

Picked up on your story right after you departed NYT.

Your written work is outstanding, and few ask better questions as a podcast host.

Legacy media's behavior over the last decade plus is the best thing that ever happened to you. And thank god for the Substack platform, too.

Congratulations. This is well deserved, and indicative of the quality and difference of your work.

Thanks to you and your team for building such a great journalistic empire-to-be. I love that it doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum you or your reporters are on: it's the truth, without shying away or injrecting personal biases.

Happy and proud to be one of the first Million. Keep up the amazing work.

So well deserved. By December 2025 I predict you'll have 5 million subscribers.

Bari, I came for the free content, I paid for the straight line you have drawn and the wonderful content. Honesty IS the best policy. "Yee shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free". That should be on your masthead.

Proud to be in on the ground floor. How about 25% off socks for your first 1,000 subscribers? ;-)

Mostly kidding-the data that would entail makes my head hurt.
