“Allegedly” - a short rant

You say “ Luigi Mangione … allegedly shot dead UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson” and I get that you’re trying to CYA in case of a hypothetical defamation lawsuit from Luigi in case, you know, he’s NOT the actual shooter. Leaving aside, for now, the merits of that practice in general, I DO have a suggestion in regards to phrasing.

The CEO DID in fact get shot. Someone DID in fact shoot him. There’s nothing alleged about the fact of the shooting. So, maybe rephrase (here and in the future) to clarify that someone DID pull the trigger and kill him and the only “alleged” part (for now) is that that someone was Luigi.

A Chinese entity owns the largest pork producing company, Smithfield, mainly located in North Carolina. Based on current obesity data, Nippon buying U.S. Steel might be a lesser security matter than pork consumption in the U.S.

We need less inductive reasoning and more deductive. Typical MSM approach on the firearm purchases by the vague gay, lesbian, etc group. Based on a few examples, the press engages in a broad generalization.

Instead, begin with a question, gather data, and determine the validity of the question.

One might say they're clinging to their guns.🤔

A new report says “queer people” are buying guns to prepare for Trump’s America...Paranoia in the gay/trans/Barista American community is completely out of hand.

Black Face boy be gone! What a colossal loser. Authoritarian wannabe. Without his last name he would be working at a Starbucks. Glad Canadians woke up.

Canadians will never wake up

I understand the need to criticize baby Trudeau, but it unfairly stereotypes the hardworking people at Starbucks. Yes, there might be some incompetent, uncaring losers there, but for the most part they work hard in an intense situation.

Maybe refer to him, without being the son of Pierre, just a homeless squatter. Or something similar.

You're quite right. Without his last name he would be unemployed. On public assistance.

Yes, yes, yes - ISIS blah, blah, blah - but what kind of truck was Jabbar driving? Isn't that make and model of truck what news consumers need to know, like the attack in Las Vegas? Where's the outcry from readers desperately needing to know this aspect?

“Bad ideas, strongly held” Bari? What a quote that speaks the truth about Trudeau, H. Clinton, Obama, Susan Rice, and possibly Bidey, if he could entertain a thought.

And, how do individuals going bankrupt get to rent trucks? The terrorist rental car company issued trucks to both perpetrators. Says a lot that the Tesla contained the blast. And, it didn’t need to be recharged. One way trip to hell.

The "terrorist rental car company" you refer to is Turo. Look it up.

Yes and why did they “randomly” use the same rental car company?

I wonder who the owners of the cars were. Hopefully the FBI is wondering too.

I think the company was used because one could get the vehicle with much less documentation. It is also possible to get the vehicle desired instead of a fleet vehicle.

My understanding is that the company insures the vehicle and matches the private owner with the customer.

Pensacola Beach, even in cold weather, is beautiful. The east coast of Florida has coarse sand, often dark. The west coast, especially Pensacola Beach has soft, fine white sand, that makes a trip to the beach much more pleasurable. Sunset’s are gorgeous.

Orthodoxy is not the answer. I say this as one formerly Orthodox, a student of Orthodox theology, and a tonsured Reader. Americans get attracted to Orthodoxy because of its exotic features, but don't see that it is alien to Western culture. It is legalistic, overly mystical at the expense of real-world concerns, and too beholden to civil authorities. That last aspect is especially troubling. Study the Byzantine and Russian empires and see how the Church became the servant of the state. That led to imperial arrogance and subjugation of religion to politics. (Exhibit A: the total takeover of the Russian Church by the KGB.) A Westerner who wants a vigorous, masculine faith should instead look to traditional Catholicism, where he will find, order, discipline, and challenges aplenty for the masculine seeker. Some of the fault obviously lies with the institutional Catholic Church, but in the end Tradition will win. What we don't need is a bunch of "bros" who have fled from bullies like Mark Driscoll and now think they're cool with big beards and an admiration for Putin.

Great piece which simply highlights what many of us have been thinking and saying for years: The Democratic Party was populated by freedom-loving and patriotic Americans who simply differed with Republicans on the means, but not the ends. Today the Dems are a tightly controlled and sealed bubble of sheep who perpetuate groupthink. When this party realizes that what's best for a pluralistic America is also best for the party we will see better policies coming from both parties. We will also see an end to the idiocy that has made it dangerous for people to use public transportation; difficult to make ends meet; difficult to plan for the future, and geopolitical dangers the likes of which we have not seen since WWII.
