Longer term the state really needs to prioritize forest fire mitigation including removing dead trees and forest floor debris. That is on Newsom and the legislature. We live with low rainfall and Santa Ana winds but that is no excuse for preparation. Government has 2 key jobs: safety and infrastructure. California has been derelict in both.
