The Los Angeles fires resulted from typical scarce rainfall and Santa Ana winds. Not a “climate change” combination. A natural event in the SoCal climate.

There is no dereliction of duty by Karen Bass, notwithstanding the asinine promotion of DEI criteria in LAFD hiring.

The houses got into the way of the native environment.

The problem with fire hydrants having low to no water pressure is a leadership issue. Why? and what is the solution? placing generator driven back up pumps? How about positioning water tankers strategically when dire warnings were released by the national weather service? Bass failed to prepare. Longer term the state really needs to prioritize forest fire mitigation including removing dead trees and forest floor debris. That is on Newsom and the legislature. We live with low rainfall and Santa Ana winds but that is no excuse for preparation. Government has 2 key jobs: safety and infrastructure. California has been derelict in both.

I think that most people who value their lives, families, homes, and belongings would agree that Bass's ill-timed trip to Ghana -- in the absence of a functioning deputy mayor (who could soon be indicted for bomb threats against the fire department) and in the wake of almost $20 million in cuts to the fire department's budget (which her own fire department chief had warned in December would impair its ability to respond effectively even to LA's "typical" risks of fire) -- was beyond a dereliction of duty. It was criminal.
