Good riddance, SIO.

BTW, censorship by government is illegal -- but so is censorship by a private party on behalf of the government. That's not new. The only new thing is the fetish we've made out of the supposed special position of social media companies.

I’ll drink to that, and wish Condi a happy National Martini Day. That should salve and solve our intergenerational traumas.

Will you be allowing your content to be read aloud by the Substack text to voice feature anytime soon?

It seems only a small portion of your content is able to be read aloud by this feature? Is this a bug or purposefully so? Other Substacts have this feature turned off for free subscribers and enabled for paid subscribers.

Just finished Bari's interview with Eden Golan. She is 20 years old and compared to so many American children of the same age seems like a fully formed human being. Wow.

There is only one Independence Day in America. This narrative is nothing different than NYT’a Project 1619.

So many different people were 'freed' by whatever tyranny they fled as immigrants - so can we have a Lativian, Estonia, Lithuania Independence Day too? How about the Irish who were under the thumb of the British for so long? There are myriad people living in the usa today who probably wish they could have an 'Independence Day' as well but are happy to consider the USA July 4, Independence Day they're own. It's tiring to see and hear the American black community think that their experience is so unique - it's not.

If there is one nation, there can only be one Independence Day. If there are two nations (like modern segregationists such as Rice insist on), then and only then can there be more.

The way to get past race is to stop talking about race. And, maybe not having two of everything while promoting unity. 2 national anthems, 2 independence days. Like another commenter said, let's call it Emancipation Day or Founder's Ideal Day or something. Then, everyone can celebrate. After that, though, can we please stop talking about race? The cure for racism is to stop being racist. Towards everyone.

Reading Ben Rhodes essay reminded me of why I hated the Obama2 presidency. It's clear they are still (probably even through Biden) pushing the ideology of oppressed/oppressor, weakening America and getting used to it, taking in everyone from everywhere cuz feelings, and climate change hysteria. It solidified what I've long suspected, that American decline is not inevitable, it is planned demolition.

1. Carine's partner wasn't killed by a religion, he was killed by a terrorist.

2. Everyone stopped paying attention to terror alerts when they realized Bush was just fucking with us on the code Orange, code Red stuff.

FREE KEVIN DURANT!!!!!

Expand full comment

Hey Bari,

I recently became a subscriber but if you keep banning Kevin Durant, I’ll be a one and done. He was the main reason I became a subscriber because I was loving starting my mornings off, laughing my ass off because of Kevin. Stop being sensitive little flowers. I find some of the crap Ollie writes to be far more cringe than Kevin’s. Free Kevin Durant and lighten the *F* up.

Did they ban our boy? I've noticed he hasn't been around, and wondered.

Can anyone explain to me why Oliver Wiseman’s only disparaging remark on the articles he chose was about Trump and isolationism?

If TFP want to be taken seriously as an even handed publication, then Mr Wiseman should not be the face of it.

Yep, Oily needs to go. Censorship and a marked deterioration in quality began when he appeared on the scene.

Don't hold your breath, JAE. Leftists like Ollie simultaneously accuse Trump of being an isolationist or a war-monger bent on starting WW 111, whichever suits their purpose at the time.

Thank you for highlighting the story on a second whistleblower at Texas Children’s Hospital!!! I don’t read about this anywhere else. And it is EVIL and un-America for the FBI to arrest those brave enough to bring to light these situations!! Our country is turning into the Soviet Union with all the FBI arrests of law-abiding citizens!! We have to resist this in every way possible before we become the Republik of America!!!

Never forget that the FBI is headquartered in a building named for a cross-dressing blackmailer.

As usual in the battle between the sane normies and the insane Wokesters, the ultimate victory belongs to the normie, Eden Golan. As usual in this battle, Eden is someone with enduring qualities, she is gorgeous, talented and bright. Her detractors, as always, are a crazed freak show who have nothing to offer the world other than screeching and destruction. Long after they have all gone back into their holes, Eden will still be gorgeous and talented.

Such a refreshing piece by Ms.Rice.

Race relations have come a very long way and there are definitely improvements to be made but we are on the path to decency.

The progress from what was a very ugly past is highlighted by Ms. Rice’s accomplishments, her stature as an American citizen and the respect she has earned.

Social evolution has happened and will continue to happen - destructive revolution is unnecessary to all but the chronically dissatisfied.

The last slaves in America were not freed on June 19th. Slavery remained legal in Kentucky and Delaware, two slave states that did not secede. Slavery was abolished with the ratification of the 13th Amendment on Dec 6th, 1865.
