The problem here is that mid-level operatives/administrators in public institutions have been corralled into the DEI mindset. They buy the oppression thing 100% for fear of losing their jobs. Bragg makes a phone call. Uses a verbal code and the business of the court is as good as done. The republicans need to do to him what they did to the University presidents.

Per this article:....“We were unable to establish that these defendants caused property damage or bodily harm,” Assistant District Attorney Stephen Millan told the judge before he moved to drop the charges against thirty Columbia students and faculty who were arrested and charged after violently taking over Hamilton Hall on the evening of April 30 with hammers and zip ties.

They each were facing at least one charge of criminal trespass—a misdemeanor punishable by up to three months in jail and a $500 fine.

FYI In NYS Criminal Trespass in the 3rd degree (a class B misdemeanor) does not require a showing that the defendant caused property damage or bodily harm. These are not even elements of the criminal trespass law so why would their absence be grounds to drop the charges?

I agree with that janitor. As a working man he has much more common sense than the over educated lawyers working for New York. And all the people in charge of Columbia, too!

Another great example of how the left is no longer focused on its reason for being.

The continuing effects of Columbia President Minouche Shafik, who got her job without having any line experience managing real people. If she were serious, or if the Trustees were serious, then a forceful statement should have been issued condemning Bragg's actions. Hard to believe that there is actually a law school right across the street on Amsterdam Avenue.

The article states, “…the Manhattan district attorney,” but does not share his name. It’s Alvin Bragg. The one who took dismissed federal charges and made them, through nefarious legal means, multiple state felonies against President Trump. Yet Bragg continues to drop serious charges against actual threats to society. Does anyone believe that these same charges would be dropped if the agitators were conservatives? Disgusting.

“We were unable to establish that these defendants caused property damage or bodily harm,” Assistant District Attorney Stephen Millan told the judge before he moved to drop the charges...

They were charged with trespass. Are causing bodily harm and property damage elements of the offense of trespass in New York? Doubt it. Also, they did cause property damage and and gave the workers in the building reason to fear for their safety. Maybe you can't charge for the damage because you can't prove which specific defendants caused the damage. I understand that, but you can easily prove that they were all trespassing as part of a mob that did cause damage. Why drop the charges that you can prove?

One more thing. This mob consists of the same people lecturing all of us about our "privilege," yet here they are attending a university that costs nearly $90,000 a year and being entirely unaccountable when as part of their SJW cosplay they harass and terrify the custodians who are caring for the school's buildings. Tell me who's privileged again.

This is an example of a normal person's reaction to the two tiered justice system.

If those that are under attack were to fight back, by being armed, for example, they'd find that they would be prosecuted for defending themselves. It's a pattern. The University admins, the DAs, and state government, they are on the side of the protestors, and people who want to live freely in a law abiding society are not welcome. Take them up on the offer and leave. Sharing values with your neighbors is the most peace and security you will ever get.

A silver lining effect of Oct 7 is that suddenly many Americans were stirred from political slumber, rose from their overstuffed La-Z-Boy liberalism, and turned on the light switch to be greeted by the disgusting sight of progressive roaches and rats scurrying across the floor. Suddenly, a lot of people are beginning to recognize we have a major pest problem in our house.

In completely related news from yesterday:

"A Jewish mom and her husband were attacked and beaten at a Brooklyn elementary school graduation by an Arabic-speaking family — who taunted them with shouts of “Free Palestine!” “Gaza is Ours!” and “Death to Israel!” she told The Post."

If you essentially ignore crimes, the criminals will get bolder. Apparently, in order to cross a line which creates consequence ... well, we really have no idea where that line is because there has been almost no consequence.

Not at Columbia in NYC and not at the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge. Quite literally, coast to coast. Consequence free. Talk about privilege!!!

I was shocked and sick to my stomach when I read that story. The couple's twin daughters-10 years old-witnessed the entire assault of their parents. This trauma will never be forgotten. Has Mayor Adams spoken up-not to my knowledge. Has Gov. Hochul, herself a mother, said anything? Haven't heard anything. What about the school administration. This occurred at a graduation ceremony. So far, this hasn't even been given the status of hate crime. Hochul is the only person who can fire Bragg; she owes this to all the citizens of NYC to take this action. She took an oath to protect and serve.

Could it be that there’s a double standard in our justice system, depending upon the perpetrator and victim? Perish the thought!

I like to play a game called Time Machine. Take an incident like the assaults on these Jewish parents. Would this have happened 5 years ago; 10; 15, 20 years ago. What were the causes leading up to this? October 7th? Were there ANY incidents between Jews and Muslim parents and students 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago. What action was taken to punish violent offenders or were charges dropped.

Double standard? Try NO standards.
