Synopsis of today's comments: each side is blaming the other for doing the things both sides do and justifying their side's behavior by "but what about????" The thoughtful comments are few and far between (nod here to Lanny).

So Trump is officially back and the leftists have something to talk about again. I thought the Free Press had gotten a bit beyond that obsession, but apparently not. Maybe leftists are simply incapable of broadening their focus or recognizing their hypocrisy.

I’m in the Panhandle too but I thought everybody knows to stock up on Diet Coke for hurricanes and blizzards.

"Can Trump transform America with a stroke of his Sharpie?" Isn't that exactly what Obama threatened to do with his pen and his phone?

Expand full comment

Isn't that also largely what we hired Trump to do? I'll take a sharpie over my tax dollars and my nephews lives, thank you.

So Biden can pardon Fauci, Milley and the J6 Committee and his family (all not charged with anything to date) but Trump gets hammered for pardoning the J6 protesters? Get real TFP.

They weren’t ’protesters.’ They were VIOLENT CRIMINALS, including neo-Nazis and a major drug smuggler. Biden’s instinct that Trump would terrorize his family and those who stood up to Trump’s Insurrection was right on the mark. HOW can you even compare the two sets of pardons, whatever the flaws in Biden’s? There are now fully armed terrorists of AMERICAN roots roaming our streets. Musk’s Nazi salute. Trump’s disgusting view that the January 6 criminals are ‘patriots’ puts me in mind of how Hitler and all autocrats define ‘patriotism.’ Truly as the last, and first, refuge of a scoundrel.

Did you look at the 8,000 pardons Biden did? Take a look at who he included…

It would be nice to have a couple of lawyer scholars discussing the law rather than one person, giving the impression that the law is settled on each of these executive orders. Not sure TFPs’ expert is impartial. One might also include another expert with a differing view to give your readers more data on which to form opinions.

Finally someone is telling the Europeans they need to learn to take care of themselves and it's another European. They patronize us, look down on us, call us their American Cousins like we're the black sheep of the family, but when push comes to shove they expect us to bail them out. We've had to do that twice in the 20th Century and maintain an army there to protect them since the end of WWII. When will they grow up and learn to figure out how to live together without our help?

“Today at The Free Press, our editors concede that the Department of Justice was overzealous in prosecuting some of the January 6 rioters—but by indiscriminately pardoning everyone, isn’t Trump guilty of another kind of overreach?”

Why is it that the only time the msm “concede” that democrats were “overzealous” in anything is when they can turn around and blame republicans for something they consider to be far worse? Did TFP write about how the DOJ was “overzealous” before Trumps pardons? I can’t recall that happening.

I don’t advocate for pardoning people convicted of violence against law enforcement but if the law is being applied equally, which WAS the democrats position with their “no one is above the law” statements, then Trump is equally applying the law as was applied during the 2020 riots and protesting in front of SCOTUS’ residences.

If only one team is playing by the rules then the rules mean nothing and are used as an advantage to hamstring one team.

Biden pardoned an actual cop killer. No cops were killed on J6 despite what the msm states. The medical examiner report of the one cop that died soon after J6 stated it was due to other causes. I don't condone pardoning ANY violent offenders but I also don't condone the double standard.

Sorry, Lefties, but you guys created the imperial Presidency over our objections. You're only pissed about it now because we've decided to use it instead of cry about it.

200 EOs. Day 1. And we have 1459 days to go.

Canning DEI (a your federal jobs program for your lefty, grievance studies majors with no real skills) was only the beginning. We're going to use the imperial Presidency you created to dismantle your agenda and hurt you, Exactly what you've been doing to us for years.

Karma's a bitch, isn't it?

"A historic winter storm has hit the Gulf Coast, with some locales recording up to ten inches of snow. From Houston to my home in the Florida Panhandle, life has screeched to a halt. Thousands of flights have been canceled, while schools, businesses, and government offices have also shuttered, largely because Southerners (including yours truly) are incapable of driving in the snow. I’m out of Diet Coke and I can’t even leave my house!"

Why is John Bolton a special case for Secret Service Protection? He he the only person in government to make enemies? Think of all the women with restraining orders who actually need protection and have to take their chances.

I would put more faith in a well-vetted personal security team than in the Secret Service at this point.

"OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle have pledged as much as $500 billion in private investment over the next four years as part of a new AI infrastructure venture unveiled by Trump on Tuesday. Dubbed “Stargate,” the project will “build the physical and virtual infrastructure to power the next generation of AI,” Trump said. Think data centers. Big, beautiful, data centers.'

If I understand this correctly this May be a Big Deal. As I have said many times I'm Not All That Bright. So if someone could give me a link that explains this me I would be grateful.

Authorities in Panama announced on Jan. 20 that they have launched an audit of the Hong Kong-based port operator that controls ports near the Panama Canal, shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump repeated his intention during his inauguration to bring the waterway back under U.S. control.
