The parents crossing party lines over school choice in Kentucky. Emily Oster investigates whether marriage matters to kids. Steve Bannon is free. And much more.
It is so ironic that the candidate who decided to make her entire campaign "about Trump" could lose because people wanted and needed to know about Kamala Harris and how she would lead the country if she became President.
"The backlash against it among people in the real world appears to have shocked the Trump campaign so much that the candidate is running away from his own closing argument. " The way Maga talk among themselves has shocked the American people.
"Israel says Qassem’s tenure “may be the shortest in the history” of Hezbollah. Now he has even more to sweat over." Truer words were never spoken. Reminded me of:
“It is a choice about whether we have a country rooted in freedom for every American, or one ruled by chaos and division.” Kamala Harris.
Thanks Kamala, the smartest thing that you have uttered, but it seems to me that you are not making an argument for the Democrats, who consider individuals only to be members of groups based on immutable characteristics; to the democrats, the individual is nothing but a widget.
"The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters.” From “basket of deplorables” to “garbage.” If that was the view of only a handful of people, that is one thing. But it is mainstream in the democratic party establishment, they just don't openly say it. Michelle Obama's speech the other day reeked of this sentiment. It even oozes through the cracks at such august media outlets as The Free Press. What did Sam Harris say, "Low information voters?" Meanwhile, Kamala is telling Christians they have come to the wrong rally. Yes, that is really about uniting all Americans.
You’re right Oliver. “As last night’s speech made clear, this campaign is and always has been all about Trump.” Just like It was with Biden in 2020. And enough people understood the clear threat of Trump and he lost. As a former Republican I can only hope this happens again.
Wouldn't the phrase, "not going back" indicate a change is needed? -- a change from the Biden administration! As for sewing division among Americans, the Democrats have been doing that, dividing people into groups, assuming all blacks think the same way, all Muslims, all Jews, all women, etc. I feel a visceral dislike for Kamala Harris. I believe people felt that way about Hillary Clinton in the day. Fingers crossed!
"On Tuesday, Steve Bannon was released from prison. The former Trump adviser served time for contempt of Congress, after he defied a subpoena from the January 6 congressional committee."
Bannon is the first person in history to be sent to prison for exercising executive privilege, which is an extremely routine event. Attorney General Garland, who is the one who sent him there, has himself been held in contempt of Congress for the very same offense. I don't even know if anyone else has ever been imprisoned for contempt, even when executive privilege was not involved.
This is just one more example of how in Democrat-run America, our laws are only enforced against the Democrats' political opponents, and when the laws in question don't actually apply, they just pretend that they do.
Of course, all of the bogus prosecutions of Trump are the main exhibits here. Again, totally unprecedently. Never before has the ruling party used the machinery of the justice system to imprison and destroy its opponent.
And of course they have twice attempted to assassinate Trump. When all of their other dirty tricks failed to dampen the public's enthusiasm for him, they were forced to resort to direct action, which fortunately failed, but only by the grace of God.
And on top of all of this, the Dems have the gall to claim that if Trump is elected, then he'll prosecute his political opponents. And of course, our entire news media, including TFP, repeats this charge endlessly. The Dems already are prosecuting their opponents. In two weeks, Trump is scheduled to be sentenced to 144 years in prison for nothing.
The Dems constantly claim that democracy itself is on the ballot in this election. They are actually correct in this, but it is they who are the threat. And for many other reasons beyond those mentioned here.
I strongly agree with most of your statement. But, just to be fair, there is no evidence the two men who tried to shoot Trump are Democrats or were working for Democrats.
Very little evidence has been made public. One could also say that there is no evidence the two men who tried to shoot Trump are NOT Democrats or were working for Democrats.
In Texas we have heard the same argument that school choice will hurt rural purlic schools. I don't understand it. If there are no plrivate schools in the county and the public school is doing well, students won't leave the public school and then it won't lose money. It seems like a straw man problem.
The rural schools are underfunded and running on very tight margins. Rural communities have few students and very small tax bases. State funding is based somewhat on the number of kids in seats and these small districts can't raise taxes to cover the shortfall. Add to those issues the high cost of transportation for rural districts that bring students into town and the fact that sports require trips of 4 or more hours one-way. The loss of even one family to a school district can be devastating.
You're right, there won't be private school alternatives. Instead, kids in rural areas will sign up to be home schooled or schooled via a comuter (because that worked out so well during COVID). The kids will then spend the bulk of their time working and not really attending school. The temptation to put off studying on the computer or "having school" while the family works together on the farm or their business will be hard to overcome. There's a reason that rural families used to be larger. They needed the workers.
In my rural area children are already disappearing from schools at a rapid rate. Due to the powerful home school lobby in Texas, you can sign your child out to be 'home schooled" and they never show up again on anyone's radar screen. They aren't counted as truants, nor as drop outs. Kids in my district have been found riding in the cabs of long haul trucks, laying tile, and working construction. It's not illegal to employ your own underage child in the family business rather than properly educating them. "School choice" for rural kids can mean the choice not to be educated while the family gets the child labor AND money from the government that is used for something other than true education.
A carefully crafted plan that protects rural Texas districts could have been done. Instead the Texas governor chose to run opponents against the 16 rural Republicans who tried to protect their schools, all financed by the Tick Tok billionaire, Mr. Yass......because we know that HE cares about children.
“the issue has long been championed by conservatives, who see school choice as a means of pushing back against culture war issues such as library books with LGBTQ content or how race is taught in schools.”
Hate to break it to my liberal friends but school choice is a civil rights issue, not a cultural issue. It’s about breaking the cycle of kids, especially black inner city kids, being forced to attend the same failing schools for generations. The quality so poor that kids are doomed by second grade. These kids are just collateral damage for the democrat politicians who enjoy the millions given to them by the teachers unions. If you don’t believe this just ask Harris, Biden, Pelosi, Clinton, Schumer, and every one of them where their children and grandchildren go to school? Answer: “The finest private schools in America, peasant.”
The keyword here is "choice." School choice allows every parent to choose what school best serves their child's needs. This could very well force public schools to up their game - offer their students an excellent education or suffer the consequences.
I agree. I can tell you as a former NY resident, that in NYC, parents of inner city children concerned about their child's education, who were predominantly minorities, were anxious to have their children enrolled in charter schools.
He would say trying to redo Obamacare in 2017 instead of an illegal immigration crackdown bill like in so many of the EC nations. He won't make this error again.
Once you can convince people that men are really women despite what they see with their own eyes, it can't be all that hard to convince them that crime is down.

England is reeling after “the grate cheese robbery.”
More of these cheesey stories please! We need any bit of humor we can get from the news

VOTE RED Ian. Vote these terrible people out of power. Vote for President Trump!🇺🇸🇺🇸!

Some times Oliver is a blind man
Blind and deaf Joel and a real schmuck at times.

Both Eric Holder and Merrick Garland disregarded Congressional subpoenas. Neither were jailed.
Can we be tired of the chaos and lies of the Biden Harris administration?
Yes, we can. I'd go into more detail but can't get up the energy.

I wonder what Trump's response would be to the question they asked Kamala about mistakes. He wouldn't even answer the question
They are being graded on a curve.
I think he'd say he appointed some bad people he ended up having to fire.
He would say trying to redo Obamacare in 2017 instead of an illegal immigration crackdown bill like in so many of the EC nations. He won't make this error again.

Hmmm.....no story about ballot boxes being torched? Republicans engaged in voter fraud?
Weird.
What makes you think it was conservatives who burned them? Do you have evidence? Were they caught?
