DR. Prasad's article about RFK junior is an excellent example of true journalism and I recommend it. He lays out a reasonable case for understanding that some of the "nutty" ideas RFK espouses is actually common practice in other modern, western countries. He does not give the man a pass for some of his ideas but I came away thinking there could be some value in looking at public health issues with a fresh set of eyes. Good work FP and yes, it is OK to change your mind.

As the daughter of an immigrant it really bothers me when legal and illegal immigration is made out to be the same thing. My father did it legally, it was a process and he was proud to have become a citizen. Illegal immigrants take no pride and scoff at our country. Very few are against legal migration, it's the illegals and the false "asylum" seekers that most of us are against. It's a pretty basic and easy concept to grasp.

To claim that you have shed TDS may be true in the context of your Upper West Side neighborhood.

Unsolicited advice:

Try some of that on the ground experience that you so value in your writers.

Bethlehem PA is a 1:45 min drive from West 96th Street.

Go see how globalization hollowed out middle class America.

Visit the National Museum of industrial history- a Smithsonian. Open until 5pm today. 10-5 weekends. Talk to the volunteers about their careers and families.

Not about who they voted for, but about their lives, what they care about, what they worry about.

(Triangulate those with the actual statements and actions taken by the two Presidential candidates and the actual voting results.)

Guaranteed eye opener.

Lunch at Sibris Restaurant.

Slow drive up and down the hills of the city.

Still time to be back in your enclave by NY dinner time.

Not even a full day rental car.

It might not change your mind but I am pretty sure it will help you better understand why millions of other voters did.

Joe… you are getting closer. When you use terms like crank and conspiracy theory to frame your opinion on JFK, that is not true unbiased reporting. You are still conveying your tribal alliance and holding on to the last clutches of the perceived importance of a place in liberal NY society. Try looking into all the things he has gotten right, listen to his actual words about vaccines and healthcare… and welcome yourself to the new reality of the dawning second quarter of the 21st century

The Biden debacle was the best thing that ever happened to our nation.

Every part of our lives was turned upside-down and our delusional leader told us to stay home or be made a example of.

As this was going on the thugs in the liberal cities were burning police buildings and cop cars and cleaning out stores with the governor's blessings. Every part of our country has suffered from the stupid actions of libturd lunacy but that wasn't enough, now on the way out the back door Biden is freeing the scum of the earth on us. I guess letting 10 or 20 million strangers and possible terrorists in wasn't enough.

By doing all of this insane crap to our nation the commierat's managed to open the eye's of a lot of people who followed them like lemmings to the slaughter house.

The fastest way to keep a person from listening to my or anyone else’s opinions is to try to ram it down another’s persons throat.

I am always respectful of other people’s beliefs and or opinions.

If we can’t agree on certain subjects, I just say that we can agree to disagree.

President Trump does not have that ability. He makes everything personal and hence can’t break through to a large portion of the public..

On the flipside of that is there are many on the left that disagree with him no matter what he says, and then he does not help the situation by his crude remarks.

I can only hope that American citizens can start to help each other again otherwise there won’t be anything left for China to take.

Happy new year to everyone 😎

When it comes to paint Trump as a terrible person, people like Eli and Joe are able to compare the moon to a chunk of cheese...Their thesis that democrants after all did nasty things is because Trump did it first makes no sense; like it makes no sense the comparison to the fall of Rome (???go back to history 101 Eli and Joe).

Joe may have seen the light on a couple of issues that the right has been supporting . That said. anytime he mentions the name Donald Trump. It is clear that he still has TDS.

I long for the pre-feminist days when a candidates "character" was not defined by how faithful he is in his marriage. If our views about sexuality were more rational, Trump would not have had to pay anyone to cover up consensual sex. Personally, I'm grateful we've had presidents like JFK, FDR, and the many others...and have no doubt that they would have paid to cover up their private life had we not let them have a private life.

Honestly, I think we'd all benefit, Joe included, if he left New York City and lived somewhere else for awhile, anywhere other than the East Coast - or any coast for that matter.

Poor Joe Nocera

Like an alcoholic forced by his third DUI to confess a drinking problem — yet still convinced he can be trusted near a car or a bar — he still can’t recognize that Americans just voted against four years of radical anti-American policies.

And while he stated it openly, he still can’t see that these MAGA types in his family tree are happier than him and his TDS-afflicted therapist.

Perhaps, Joe, you might put down your pen and move to Wisconsin.

DEI classes Jews as "white oppressors." Antisemitism and attacks followed. Did we really need another excuse for bigotry?

Joe, I donʻt know if you will actually see this comment, but I thought I would try anyway. I very much enjoyed your essay Itʻs Okay to Change Your Mind. In that essay, you said that you said, "…DEI sometimes serves a purpose." I am the Treasurer and a board member for the non-profit Calvert Task Group (https://calverttaskgroup.org) - an organization of retired and former naval officers strongly supporting Merit, Equal Opportunity, and Intelligence as an alternative to DEI. As you will see in about a nanosecond, we are opposed to DEI, but like many things, that depends entirely on how you define those three words. We are absolutely not opposed to minorities in officer corps (the enlisted ranks already include more minority sailors than DEI proportionality would espouse). What weʻre opposed to is waiving or compromising standards to achieve some notional proportionality. That is certainly happening at the Air Force Academy and West Point, but it is not that clear at the Naval Academy. Civilian colleges and universities are already prohibited from using race as an admission factor, so the majority of officers will not be academy graduates. I am a strong proponent of cognitive (vice identity) diversity, and would really like the chance to discuss that with you. Take care and keep writing. Guy Higgins (treasurer@calverttaskgroup.org).

I was very discouraged by Joe Nocera’s summary.

American babies are required to take a long series of vaccine shots. Too many Americans are suffering from serious chronic illnesses? Related? Unrelated? Have sufficient serious scientific studies been done to determine the relationship? Big pharma, that funds and controls almost all medical research, and funds politicians and political parties and government health bureaucrats, does not want to you ask. But we know the covid vaccine was never tested properly, did not do what was claimed for it, and had horrific side effects for some recipients. Isn't this question worth further inquiry?
