All of this could have been avoided were it not for the neo-con/neo-dem fever dreams & fool's errands.

None of knows what is really going on behind the scenes. Anyone who thinks they do is sorely mistaken. All governments lie--all of them. I'm sure Evan Gershkovich is so happy to be home. What is reported and what actually is true is very often different. I would love to see Evan interviewed however he may not be allowed to speak and who would blame him? sabrinalabow.substack.com

This is all great , but what will be the future costs to us . Is Russia off limits to any US person ? And will Russian agents be willing to do whatever anywhere they want now ? If Harris wins you bet ! If Trump still maybe , he's only got 4 years .

There are at least 5 American prisoners of Hamas, captured on Oct 7th.

Why the silence from the American media and the current administration. When Iran held 53 American hostages in 1979 to 1981 there was constant press about the "hostage crisis"

Why no hostage crisis now? Could it be American media collusion favoring the current administration? Hmmmm?

It will be interesting to hear if they come up at the DNC at all

Nice article, happy these families have their loved ones back. It does increase concern for future kidnappings. Seeing President Biden in the photo only reminds me of 13 United States Marines who should also be at home alive with their families.

“I also know that the day will come when the darkness over our country will evaporate,” he said. “When black will be called black and white will be called white; when it will be officially recognized that two times two is still four; when a war will be called a war, and a usurper a usurper; and when those who fostered and unleashed this war will be recognized as criminals, rather than those who tried to stop it.”

I am feeling this way about the US. The events in our political landscape, over the last 6 weeks, from the debate, to Trump’s shooting, to Biden’s “withdrawal” and the subsequent automatic, unquestioned, and bewildering “appointment” of Kamala as our next president (really, will the democrats allow Trump to win?) have me more depressed and sad about the US than at any other time in my 72 years.

Me, too. Very scary. My head is spinning.

Agreed. She was installed. Like a toilet. But the people who want to end the electoral college because they say votes are more important than anything. I’m bewildered.

How long has Putin been in power? +25 years. His people don’t love him that much to keep him around that long. Bottom line: his totalitarian rule is the root of all this kidnapping and criminal accusations. Regardless of whom is president in the US, Putin is the reincarnated tzar of Russia.

There exists light and dark in this world; evil is real which is hard to believe in this post-truth world we live in. These democratic dissidents did the hardest thing imaginable: they gave up comfort and personal safety just to keep that little ember of truth and light stoked. To see them not suffer the same fate as Navalny is heartening to say the least. Let their example be a guiding light in these turbulent times we live in.

I am glad, for them, that they are free. However the precedent is bad. We desperately need someone STRONG and UNPREDICTABLE in the WH. Guess who comes to mind??

The Forever War Against Tyrants? We've been keeping tyrants and their glorious totalitarian states in power with our trade agreements. In exchange for their slave labor, we enrich our elite and up their dividends. Our manufacturing base is now less than 10% of our GDP, which means less good paying jobs here which again helps the elite keep labor costs down. Since Clinton this is one of the few policies both the Dems and the Republicans have agreed on.

I thought unions in America made manufacturing jobs bad investments due to high pay, health insurance, pensions, etc. Many of those jobs can be done by a teenager after instruction ranging from a few hours to weeks.

Unionized companies through the fifties and sixties were still a good investment. They would have been a better investment if they hadn't been unionized, but is that the only consideration? If someone works hard and stays reliable they should get a living wage, at least from where I stand. I remember when the Teamsters went on strike at Welch's in my hometown, they were after what I think could fairly be called a living wage. The grape farmers said they would be ruined if the strike was successful, it was successful and the town prospered, working class people could afford to buy their own homes, and the grape farmers, kept their yachts, even got larger ones, I remember driving my girlfriend's family yacht. I make my money through investing and I'd rather make less and live in a fairer society (not a leftist by the way). There's also a security issue here, too.

Islamist Islam couldn't be happier. Eastern Orthodox Christianity -- Russia and Ukraine -- weakening each other, providing an easier access for the Caliphate entrance and rule of Europe, which is their intention, from the 8th Century. Read some history. I will no longer be here, so, good luck.

I don't see Christians saying anything. You are the first here, that know. Welcome. But, they ain't gonna get it. Just consider how delighted Islam must be, seeing Eastern Orthodox Christianity Russia and Ukraine weakening each other, exposing the flank of Europe, from the south and east. No one is knowledgeable about Islam's continued attempt to Caliphate Europe, since the 8th Century --Spain, France and Hungry, Granada, Tours (Battle of Poitier, 732, Constantinople, 1443, Vienna, 1683, Cyprus, Malta, they've never given up. Victor David Hanson knows, but his book, "The End of Everything," never really actually reaches that obvious conclusion. Such a great book, from such a great Historian, how'd he miss it? Perhaps he thinks it's obvious, but he should know better than give America's population that much credit. I saw it, it jumped off the page.

Brilliant as usual, Bari. The picture with Evan hugging his Mom tells the whole story. Thank God our journalists and dissidents are home. Putin will get his reward in the end. For now, thankful for a small uneven trade.
