If we pay enough attention, as did Jonah, to the fact that foundation of the Soviet Union was Marxism (lock, stock and barrel) while the USA’s foundation is our Constitution and there are hardly more different philosophies than these two, we should notice two very different systems – and we do.

However, since Marxism captured some (one too many) of our institutions: media, academia, entertainment industry, etc., there are some similarities – thus demoralization and apathy. The same goes to the Health Care (HC) system; in the US HC became very centralized and command and control (big hospital chains, big insurers and big pharma negotiate with each other leaving customers cold outside), it looks like and behaves like the HC in the Soviet Union: ineffective bureaucratic machine.

Can we recover – I certainly hope so.
