Batya, your analysis and conclusion are right on. I commented on an article in TFP last month, when the idea of Shapiro as a running mate was first floated. I said it would not happen precisely because of his religion. What is annoying is the pretense of the consideration. While I am true red and a Jew, I never would have voted for the ticket, his presence on the ballot would have solidified the Jews who are starting to see the red light. I hope the Jews who blindly vote blue regardless of facts finally see the truth about their democrat party.
I had the same thought. Shapiro would have drawn in the centrist/uncertain vote, particularly among Jewish people, by refuting Harris’ anti-Israel messaging. Now it feels like she’s doubling down.
