It's a sign the Democrats are overconfident. Trump has made mistake after mistake since Harris took over - they're counting on him to blow this opportunity, too.

This election is really the worst America could possibly offer - an indictment of both major parties. No one but Trump could possibly lose to this illiberal duo. He was barely ahead of a guy who probably couldn't pass a proof-of-life test.

A lot of people underestimate Democrats' ability to make their opponents look bad. They have institutional dominance far beyond what they admit having. They fabricate, they distort, they selectively edit, and they ambush.

The best candidate in the world looks like a monster under their airbrushing, and anyone who is actually that good is smart enough not to run under these circumstances. That leaves someone dogged enough to bull-rush forward in spite of the Democrats, and the candidate we have is Donald Trump.

We don't need him to do much of anything right; we just need him to take a wrecking ball to the establishment as described by Tulsi Gabbard early in this interview:

Is that Trumps fault or the lock step idiotic lefts fault?????

Expand full comment

It's the voters' fault. They don't make the connection between what a politician does in office to his/her fitness to be there. As long as the pol seems nice they vote for someone who openly works against their best interests.

Is it just me, or does it seem Republicans aren't even TRYING to win? There's so much at stake and they seem so passive, as if already defeated. I can't understand why. It's so frustrating.

They impeached him twice. They rendered the election process impossible to audit. They’ve invented felonies just for him. They’ve subverted the FBI and the freaking *Secret Service* in the hopes that he will be killed, and they have come damned close (and there are months left to go).

He’s got my vote, of course. But in my heart of hearts I’m not sure it will matter: They will not let him win, or take office if he does.

They aren't called the Stupid Party for nothing. Trump's narcissism keeps him from having the ability to focus on the issues. He's too busy comparing the size of crowds at rallies.

They can't seem to get out of their own way. It was very simple last year. Before debates, before anyone had voted, they should have gotten all the candidates into an auditorium, brought in a selection of long-time voters and experts from Iowa and New Hampshire, and held some sort of decathlon-like debate competition, at the end of which, they'd pick a winner and the rest would pledge to support him or her.

That candidate would take on Trump, one on one. But, no, divided they fell all too easily. Their egos were so large that they'd rather bicker among themselves while Trump simply laughed at them and won enough delegates to put this thing to bed by Super Tuesday.

And when 2028 comes around and the Democrats have eliminated the filibuster and packed the Supreme Court so they can jail Trump and secure voting rights for the ten million "asylum" seekers and their families and make sure that people like us are jailed for spreading "misinformation" online, all of these clowns will run again and no one will care because the voting rules will ensure that the Republican party is an afterthought.

On the positive side, despite ever-increasing CO2 levels from all of China's and India's new coal plants, there still won't be anything resembling a climate emergency, so the kids will still be able to go to nice parks if they can tear themselves away from TikTok.

No need for them to actually imprison us or put us in camps. They can use the online data harvesting to identify them deny us credit, keep us from being employed, block us from using social media, there is no need to go to the trouble of locking us. There will be virtual gulag.

Too true!

Unfortunately you nailed it Jim. This election is Trump's to lose. His narcissicim prevents him from beingdisciplined with his message and focusing on issues and how radical Harris / Walz are.

Do you consider the remark of Trump about Kamala conversion from Indian to Black as racist?

If "yes", then nothing can help America.

Expand full comment

No. And don’t forget, Harris herself relegated “racist” to the d dustbin of childish, playground insults, like “stupid” and “fatso” when she called Biden a racist (which he is) then accepted his offer to be his running mate.

Sorry. I don't. I just find it irrelevant. Who cares? Let the illiberals obsess over identity.

There's only one thing that needs to be done: press them on their record. Get them on the defensive about their economic policies, about their support for Iran, about their insistence on mutilating teenagers and destroying our nation's energy security. Nothing else matters.

Trump believes in his own identity, and that's going to lose him this election.

I want to add something about the racial aspect of the comment. It is a who cares.

Four years ago, Biden went on a popular black radio show and said, condescendingly, you ain't black if you vote for Trump.

Pundits went a little crazy. Boy, Biden stepped into it that time. No, he didn't. Black people couldn't have cared less. He didn't convince anyone with that remark, but it turns they tuned it out entirely.

They'll do the same this time. No white person is going to tell anyone who is black enough and who isn't. It's a wasted opportunity. Black people and white people share this in common: they will vote for the candidate who they perceive will make their lives better. Ideally, a candidate will make things better for everyone.

That only works if you can get voters to pay attention long enough to know what's at stake.

Trump was asked the question, he answered it by pointing the flip flopping, which is a fact, and then he said who cares.

Expand full comment

There are questions that Trump is asked that are "bait" questions, but why answer them?! There are reasons to blame MSM, but isn't it time for Trump to have an "aha moment" and answer the bait question with "That is not the issue. The more important issue to the American people is....." ?

I agree, but Byron Donalds had the same problem with Stephanopalous, who wouldn't let the question of Kamala's ethnicity go. Donalds kept trying to bring it back to policy issues. The Progs don't want to go there.

Expand full comment

Stephanopolis kept after Donalds about the “slur.” What slur was he talking about? I didn’t hear any slur.

That would be a politician's answer! And we know Trump is not one of those!

Not a diplomat either! (-:
