No, partisans on the hard left and hard right want the hard stuff. The remaining 2/3 of Americans want someone - almost anyone - else. The two parties created a system that favors their base voters and activists, with an enormously expensive and difficult barrier to entry. They even work to keep opponents to their favorites off the primary ballot. Both parties are political fascists.
I enjoy the writing in the FP but have to take exception to the criticism of David French's take on the SCOTUS ruling on Colorado SC 14th Amendment. 5 of the 9 Supremes (the males, as it turns out) effectively pre-empted a federal challenge to disqualifying Trump by judging it not executable without accompanying congressional legislation because, I think, their hearts and minds would have differed on that verdict. French's criticism is legit.
Why is Oliver Wiseman still writing articles for FP? He's incredibly biased and as the comment sections in every single one of his articles show incredibly wrong or just plain oblivious to actual concrete facts. You know, basic reporting?? Really makes me reconsider my monthly donation if he continues. Get some unbiased reporters in here please. It used to be a thing- I go back as far as Common Sense for goodness sake. Make it happen again. Wiseman can go work for the NYT or WaPo and fit right in. Heck even Buzzfeed before it goes under
Bari, did you change the name of this publication from Common Sense to the Free Press because you wanted to hire Oliver Wiseman? Wiseman has no common sense but you can always be free to hire him.
Who's excited? I'm excited. I want to see Trump kick the Democrats to the curb. They're totally brazen in their attempts to steamroll over the rest of the citizens and destroy all the hallmarks of democracy and fairness that built this country, made it great, and make it a global magnet. Under Democratic rule we have seen urban decay, loss of hope for the middle class, and increased concentration of wealth and power in the hands of the few - exactly the opposite of everything that Democrats used to stand for. Democrats are of one mind: If I win, it's fair. If I lose, it's unfair. They have no tolerance for diversity of opinion, they embrace groups that hate whites, men, and Jews, and they want to destroy all the pillars of our society - fair trials, presumption of innocence, equal protection of the law, freedom of speech, and on and on. Democrats will stop at nothing to get their way, and only Trump has the guts and the means to stand up to them. Hurray for all the forgotten "deplorables" that support him, may their voice be heard in November, and may America return to the great nation it once was and can again be.
I read the first 3 sentences but had to say this: this is not the rematch the people wanted. That’s such a crock of bullshit. After being bludgeoned endlessly with the “don’t throw your vote away” and being told there are no other REAL candidates, this is what the public does. The public generally does as they’re propagandized to do.
We’d do well to vote in RFK. If you’ve ever listened to him speak, not in a sound clip brought to you by ____ dipshit media company, but in a longer form interview, you’d see an intelligent, well read, and very fit candidate for the presidency. Is he perfect? No! Good luck finding perfection in the human pool. But he’s the best idea in a long, long time. He’s even said he’d like to fill cabinet positions with those who maybe don’t agree with him a la team of rivals. I believe the vast majority of the public is very sane and very over the absolute crockery that is US divide and conquer politics at this point. Now that I’ve said that I can read the rest of the article…though I have a suspicion it’s going to be full of pollster and pundit ass-gas.
John from 413, I am also a western Mass guy, love where I live but getting tougher all the time

I hope someone will rip up the State of the Union Address on national television tomorrow night like Pelosi did.

I think that Haley should keep herself available for the convention in case a court conviction tumbles tRump's viability.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More "Red Welfare State" handouts.

The more I hear some version of Trump v Biden as being the rematch from hell, the less I believe it.
Thanks. I cancelled X but agree he is someone to follow.

Rant over!
Can we please set an upper age limit for POTUS in the constitution. 75 seems like a reasonable number...
Why do you hate Trump so much?
You're supposed to be smart, you should not worry, Democrats are good at election fraud.
Mr. Wiseman you should travel to Venezuela, to experience personally "Socialism for the 21 century".
23 years ago I immigrated here legally, and is sooo painful to see what is happening.
Showing. Y age, my friend! 😂
“ Donald Trump is privately mulling a sixteen-week national abortion ban.”
This phrasing is deliberately designed to denigrate. It could have just as easily been:
Donald Trump is privately mulling a sixteen-week national right to abortion.”
THAT IS 4 MONTHS and eminently reasonable. You’re not fooling anyone OW.
