NEVER AGAIN!

The title says it all. Silly piece that exploits orthodox Jewish conventions and 21st century adaptations. Wig wearing observant Jew with a Glock is as fascinating as a dog in a sweater. Yes, Jews are people too. Sometimes they ride bikes.

And why should this be about the Jews? Let’s talk about the conditions that give rise to the fears. Much more interesting and more difficult to talk about broader societal maladies. How about an article on antisemitism that focuses on antisemites?

Very interesting and a bit sad - but a good part of any religious practice is self responsibility - these women are taking that role seriously. Thanks for a very good article.

I’m Jewish and live in a St. Louis suburb. A respectable number of us conceal carry. I’ve never had the necessity to use it other than to practice at a range; but who knows what circumstances might arise?

"Some Jewish sects, like Satmar ... shun technology and believe a woman's role is in the home." - This is a lazy characterization of Haredi Judaism, esp in depicting the contrast between Satmar and Chabad; I also think it's judgmental to characterize one as more "modern" than the other. Even in a more "conservative" sect like Satmar, many women work outside the home. In the latest statistical report from here in Israel, 78% of Haredi women work (higher than the men, who often remain in yeshiva)--and Chabad is *not* among the most significant sects in Israel. And the "shunning" of technology is also overstated--they aren't the Amish.

Orthodox Judaism, I think it would be fairer to say, largely adheres to more traditional gender roles, which means they are less likely to approve of innovations such as arming women or training them for security positions. (not a perfect characterization either, but I think more truthful than the somewhat flippant comparison in this article)

I'm not Jewish, but I know that Orthodox Jews, in particular, are often targets of violence. May God bless and orotect those women.

My question is how many bored, orthodox people out there are going to buy guns because it’s fun? And also how many non-yarmulke wearing Jews will now start to wear one just because they want have an excuse to their friends to get a gun? Give me a break, I know my people.

I’m a Jew with a permit to carry but never thought about shul. We have security guards posted outside; but this gets me thinking.

"Thou Shalt Hit Thy Attacker Center Mass" should be the 11th Commandment. Seriously, I'm glad my fellow Jews are wising up to the reality that guns are a moral and proper way to defend yourself against attackers bigger, meaner, more racist, and more psychopath than you. Guns are the most efficient way to ensure Never Again means Never Again, whether that's personal safety or defense of your people.

Great article. Great women. I am so proud of them

For protecting their families and communities. Unfortunately all Jews should become sharpshooters. We have to protect ourselves in this day, in this USA

Good for these ladies. Law and order are out of style with our “woke” politicians. They have security protection. We have the same right.

Good article. Insightful but riding the NRA bandwagon.

I love the use of the 2nd amendment. I'm so glad that they are defending themselves and keeping their families safe. It is a sad state of affairs that a woman with children needs to worry about safety, but I applaud them for their self-reliance.

I will not forget how in the fall...was it 2019?.....there would be videos posted in the New York Post of seemingly daily brutal attacks on the Orthodox.

The New York Times overwhelmingly ignored what was going a couple of miles or so to its east. I suspect because the people doing the attacking were not white supremacists, as they say.

I have a concealed carry permit, after having learned to shoot in the army. I cannot prevent myself from being a victim, but I will not be a helpless victim.

I know an increasing number of Jewish friends who feel the same.
